Among his sculptural works are two incredible series of carved book landscapes and structures entitled Biblios and The Great Wall, where the dense pages of old books are excavated to reveal serene mountains, plateaus, and ancient structures. Of these works he says: So I carve landscapes out of books and I paint Romantic landscapes. Laramee’s next show will be in April of 2012 at the Galerie d’Art d’Outremont in Montreal. The stunning light painting below, made with an array of colored airplanes has found its way to exhibitions like the Fly to Baku at De Pury Gallery in London. Seo Young Deok's Incredible Chain Sculptures. Photo © Seo Young Deok The human body and its formation lie at the core of the Korean artist Seo Young Deok’s work who is preoccupied with the stories told through the human figure. His solo exhibition 'Dystopia' took place at the INSA/Arko Art Centre in Seoul from 26 October 2011 until 31 October 2011 and showed his nude sculptures made meticulously in welded metal chain links piece by piece. Seo Young Deok presented a number of nude sculptures, some lying on the ground, some hung on the walls. He used welded metal chains in order to model them linking them piece-by-piece. At first glance, when someone takes a look at his work, one cannot help but notice that the artist draws strong references from the work of the renowned British sculptor Anthony Gormley.
Gormley is known for using the human figure at the core of his work who on numerous occasions used his own figure to create metal casts making his body the artwork itself. sources: Seo Young Deok. Imp Head Color 1. Ten Stone Tea was a bit of an adventure for me. I had been feeling artistically weighed down with a seemingly endless parade of freelance jobs not to mention my full time, nine to five job. After I finally got a little bit of time for myself I decided that to keep myself fresh and to recharge my batteries I would do a painting just for me.
This is the result. To tell you the God's honest truth I wasn't really sure of what to paint when I started and frankly most of the elements in this painting are stuff I put in on the fly. In the end however everything came together quite nicely and now I have a much stronger appreciation of my subconscious. I would also like to note I was so enamoured with the method and the style of this painting I decided this would only be the very first in a long series of paintings that I will at some future date collect into a book and publish.

Doyle who recently relocated to Hong Kong creates beautiful gestural paintings of birds, where the seemingly incomplete brushstrokes form the feathers and other details of the animal. In some strange way it reminds me of the story of the Renaissance painter Giotto who is rumored to have been able to draw a perfect circle without the aid of a compass, as if Doyle just picks up a dripping paint brush and in a few seconds paints a perfect bird.
In reality his work demonstrates a profound control of the paintbrush and careful understanding of the mediums he works with. Via email he tells me: Yes, what you see is what it appears to be—strokes of paint. I’ve always loved unfinished paintings because you could see the alchemic process of surface and paint transforming into a living person. With my paintings, it does take quite a bit of working and reworking to arrive at the place where every brush stroke fits into a fluidly flowing whole.
