I've been wanting to try this for a while.. but alas there are not enough hours in the day for all of my wishful crafting endeavors.

Go now and turn simple plastic grocery bags into tote bags and wallets—by fusing them together with an iron. Melt on fellow DIY'er and Recyclers. I'll live vicariously through you on this one. How to: Cut, flatten and layer six to eight bags on the ironing board, place parchment paper over them, and iron the whole stack to meld it into a useful, reusable thicker plastic for sewing together every which way. Theres no wrong way to craft, but I've included some awesome Etsy finds in this post. Don't forget you can also crochet grocery bags, too. If you haven't checked out the work of Yulia Brodskaya, which I first saw on Cake Wrecks, click this link NOW.

Seriously, you will want to look for hours. I was so inspired by her, I knew I wanted to create a monogram, ala Yulia's amazing work. Quilling takes patience and some time, but the skill needed is pretty minimal. This is my end result: I'm thrilled with it. Utterly thrilled. Ok, supplies needed: Frame Colored Paper (I used scrapbook paper because it's what I had on hand, but quilling actually works much better with non-textured paper) Print Out of Outline of Letter Craft Knife Mod Podge Scrapbook Paper Backing Medium Painter's Brush Step One: Print out an outline for your monogram.

Step Two: Pick a color to go around your letter and cut out 1/4" strips of paper. Step Three: Start measuring and folding your paper, using your print out as a guide. It's important to be completely accurate. Oh yeah, another tip. Once you've got the outline done, it will look something like this: Design Your Revolution: Colorful Paper Crafts. How to Make T-shirt yarn and 30 Plus Projects to Make. I have been a busy girl creating yarn from old t-shirts. Did you know you can make a continuous strand of yarn and create a sizable roll of yarn from just shirt? Once you have created your yarn, the potential projects you can create are unlimited. I used the exact process shown in this video DIY from Releve Design. I have a couple of tips to contribute to this excellent tutorial. Try to find the cheap cotton t-shirts without side seams. They are best so you won’t have bumps where the seams would be. I plan to make a rug, but you can pretty much make any crochet or knitting pattern with this upcycled t-shirt yarn.

Girl in Air BLOG: Diy~$7 Bookshelf. Are you LOVIN this as much as I am?? As seen on HGTV! Who would've thunk you could make a bookshelf out of a cement form and old shutters? I watched an episode where they took a concrete form and hung the circles on the wall as shelves....I LOVED it!

I wanted to make one using the leftover shutters from my Headboard project. I purchased a concrete form at Home Depot for around $7. These are the 2 options I considered...but went with the stacked upright. I cut 4 tubes the width of my shutters. The inside has a very waxy coat so if you plan to paint you will need to sand. I used a nylon brush sander. I painted a few coats of white on the inside and black on the outside. Ready to assemble with a few screws Screw to the shutters and cut a piece of wood for a topper...I was gonna to put some fancy crown molding around the top..but I think at some point I might want to hang this on the wall horizontal.

I am entering this project over at the Check out all the places I party! Corner Shelves | A Home West. So we’ve been focusing work on the basement, but found time to cut, stain, and paint some shelves for this lonely little corner in the living room. I wanted this project to be relatively inexpensive and quickly-executed since we have other things going on. In the end, it took us a few hours over the course of 2 days (to give things time to dry/cure) and cost around $100-ish–not “cheap” but neither are store-bought shelves as chunky as these… Supplies: 2″x10″x8′ Pine Boards – Untreated 6″ Steel Corner/L-Brackets 1″ Screws 2.5″ Screws Minwax Gel Stain – Mahogany Top Coat Spray – Matte Cold Galvanizing Compound Spray Primer Oil Rubbed Bronze Metallic Spray Paint – Satin 1) Plan out the bracket/shelf placement with a stud finder (or your intuition) and 1.5″ masking tape (2″ thick boards are actually more like 1.5″ thick in reality) –I decided to stagger the upper shelves because…well, I don’t know really. 2) Decide how to hang the brackets–“pointed upward or downward.”

Like this: Floating Bathroom Shelf. Project Details The German DIY magazine, Selber Machen, featured this floating bathroom shelf using pipe, Kee Klamp fittings and some Lack components from Ikea. The shelves have a modern industrial look that will provide a lot of usable space to an unused bathroom wall. Of course there is nothing is limiting this shelf to the bathroom, using different color shelves or a different arrangement, you could use this approach for any room in your house. The measurements on the diagram are in metric, see the parts list at the bottom of the project for the measurements translated into imperial. Bathroom Shelf Project Steps Customized It, Make it Your Own The value of this project and many others on this site is not that you necessarily recreate this project exactly, but that you get inspired to do something totally unique. If this is your first time joining us, the focus for our series is all about the process and encouraging our kids to get excited about creating art with fun and unique mediums! Our challenge this week was to create art with Glue. We wanted to make a set of sun catchers to brighten our widow, so we tried our hand at Painting on Wet Glue. I recently found these amazing Cosmic Sun-Catchers and I knew we had to try creating our own. Secretly I really wanted to paint on glue myself, but shhhh don’t tell my kids:) Plus this little art project involves the use of recycled materials and it only takes a few moments from start to finish (except for drying time).

Since Babble Babble Do posted such an amazing tutorial, I am only just going to post the pictures of our process. Make sure to hop on over to their blog to find the full instructions. 29 Clever Crafts For Kids That Parents Will Enjoy Doing, Too. 29 Clever Crafts For Kids That Parents Will Enjoy Doing, Too. St. Patrick’s Day Kids Craft: Perler Bead Bowls - Daily Party Dish.

My kids and I discovered this fun craft the other day and decided it would be great for St. Patrick’s Day, or any holiday. We created these great bowls out of Perler beads. You can find them at any craft store. All we needed was an oven proof bowl, the beads and cooking spray. The project is simple. Start by spraying the inside of your bowl with cooking spray. When you’ve filled your bowl with one layer of beads, put the bowl in the oven or toaster oven for 10-15 minutes at 400°. After “cooking”, take the bowl out and let the beads cool in the bowl for a few minutes. Happy melting! I wanted to make something really special for our wedding photographers, so as a Thank you present I made 2 little bears for their son and daughter. Now that I actually finished and shipped the teddy bears, I didn’t want to just show you how it turned out, I also I wanted to share the pattern and some basic instructions on how to assemble. So gather your materials! And get ready to make your very own teddy bear! =) IMPORTANT: This project is not for beginners, and if you have never made stuffed animals and are not familiar with patterns, I would recommend you to start with a more simple project and attempt this teddy bear once you have the skills and patience to put together pattern pieces and are familiar with your sewing machine (if you are not fully hand-stitching it).
