Slackware. VectorLinux. PCLinuxOS. Puppy Linux. These are extraordinary goals, yet Puppy comes close to achieving them all.

Puppy Linux

The fundamental reason is that Puppy has been built from scratch, file-by-file, and is not based on any other Linux distribution. One of the most amazing features of Puppy is the range of powerful applications yet such tiny size ...and the speed. Puppy really is small, the live-CD typically being 85MB, yet there really is a complete set of GUI applications. Being so small, Puppy usually loads completely into RAM, which accounts for the incredible speed. Well, we can rave on, which is something Puppy-enthusiasts are prone to, but find out for yourself! The creator of Puppy Barry Kauler created Puppy Linux, bringing out version 0.1 in June 2003.

The Puppy mascot Yes, there was a real little puppy, named "Puppy", who was the inspiration for the naming of Puppy Linux. Donate If you fall in love with Puppy, help out in some way. CentOS. Stella. Stella is a desktop focused, Gnome2 based Centos 6 _remix_.

Stella is not a fork. It is available as installable Live media and contains standard Centos software plus some multimedia and desktop additions. I made it a rule not to overwrite the Base repo, so besides the changed artwork and naming what you get under the hood is basically Centos! Stella comes bundled with various 3rd party repos: - EPEL - ElRepo - Adobe - nux-dextop (my own repo containing additional programs, mostly desktop oriented) It was my intention to make it so that the bundled repos do NOT conflict.

You do not need to mess around with yum configuration, priorities etc; it should all just work(tm)! Fedora. Fuduntu. Mandriva. OpenSUSE. Debian. Kubuntu. Lubuntu. CrunchBang. SolusOS. Xubuntu.
