‘Anonymous’ Warns NATO: ‘This Is No Longer Your World’

Anthropomorphic confusion aside, a NATO security report about “Anonymous”—the mysterious “hacktivist” group responsible for attacks on MasterCard, Visa, PayPal, Amazon and, most recently, Sony—has led the underground group to respond by cautioning NATO, “This is no longer your world. It is our world – the people’s world.” (More on TIME.com: Spain Nabs Alleged ‘Anonymous’ PlayStation Network Hackers) NATO’s report, issued last month, warned about the rising tide of politically-motivated cyberattacks, singling out Anonymous as the most sophisticated and high-profile of the known hacktivist groups: Anonymous (group) Anonymous (used as a mass noun) is a loosely associated international network of activist and hacktivist entities.

Anonymous (group)

A website nominally associated with the group describes it as "an internet gathering" with "a very loose and decentralized command structure that operates on ideas rather than directives". The group became known for a series of well-publicized publicity stunts and distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks on government, religious, and corporate websites. Anonymous originated in 2003 on the imageboard 4chan, representing the concept of many online and offline community users simultaneously existing as an anarchic, digitized global brain.[3][4] Anonymous members (known as "Anons") can be distinguished in public by the wearing of stylised Guy Fawkes masks.[5] In its early form, the concept was adopted by a decentralized online community acting anonymously in a coordinated manner, usually toward a loosely self-agreed goal, and primarily focused on entertainment, or "lulz".

David DeGraw As revolutionary protests continue in the Middle East and back in the states Press TV picked up with David DeGraw of ampedstaus.com. In this interview Journalist and Blogger David DeGraw of ampedstaus.com shares his insights on the decentralizing revolutionaries and group anonymous who has helped him host his website after being attacked perpetually. Press TV: Welcome to On the Edge. DeGraw: Thank you Max, it's great to be back with you. Press TV: Alright, David before I get into your big news we had you on the show a few months ago and you called for a revolution.

DeGraw: Max, what we are seeing is basically a decentralized global rebellion against neo-liberal economic policies. People don't seem to get the fact that we live in a global economy. Press TV: Alright, so you make the distinction between centralization and decentralization. A99 Operation Empire State Rebellion, March 28, 2011. June 14th Economic Rebellion Update – This Is What Decentralized Resistance Looks Like

Everybody look what’s going down…” - Buffalo Springfield Exciting times over here, to say the least! The June 14th Flag Day Rebellion against economic tyranny is growing much stronger and more rapidly than anticipated. As a small part of a decentralized movement, it’s hard to measure the overall impact, but my email inbox is exploding with support and interest. People who spent their career working on Wall Street are “done sitting idle while the market is rigged in favor of a handful of politically connected global banks and firms.” For those not up to date, this is what everyone is uniting and rallying around: This Flag Day, Tuesday June 14th, we will launch a non-violent movement with this list of demands:* End the campaign finance and lobbying racket * Break up the Fed & Too Big to Fail banks * Enforce RICO laws against organized criminal class * Order Ben Bernanke to step down.
