Art Activities for kids : Cracked Wax Resist Art. We are back with our second installment of our easy art projects for kids series we are doing with a bunch of our favorite bloggers.

Don’t forget to check out their beautiful art activities for kids at the bottom of this post. Today’s topic : Resist Art Resist art is really the most magical of all art activities for younger kids. They are completely surprised by the resist factor of the entire activity and the very first time you do a particular resist art project with the kids, they will be enamored. It happened when we did our super-ol activity , animal image resist painting and more recently, our crayon resist spider webs for Halloween. Easy Art Projects for kids: Cracked Wax Resist Art Ever since I encountered this art project I have been itching to try this out with my kids. Materials { Affiliate links provided for your reference} The idea is super simple. At this point we discussed “warm colors and “cool colors”.

She choose to do an octopus! Cover the entire paper with paint. Art Activities: Active Disk Painting. Art activities for kids : Shaving cream drip art. With young kids around most of the art activities we share are very open ended process based art activities which are easy to put together. Often time the products of these process based art activities turn out to be so beautiful that you are happy that the product is just as great as the process. Today we are sharing a drip painting on shaving cream art activity. Things we used Cut up shapes from cereal boxes Shaving cream Liquid water colors Pipettes The only preparation you need for this art project is the cutting part. I set out our shaving cream cans and our favorite liquid water colors with pipettes I had purchased online. Off we went enjoying some sensory play while smearing shaving cream on cut up card board.

Of course my toddler was around trying to keep up with big sis. This is the same toddler who learned very quickly from big sister and is demonstrating some serious fine motor skills. After shaving cream has been applied, there will be some buckling with the cardboard. Art Activities for kids : Crepe paper paint and homemade liquid watercolors. Art Activities : Art with 1 Minute Puffy Paint. Art Projects Clay Art on Canvas. Art Activity: Throw Ball Painting. Spring Art : Egg Carton Sheep. Art projects for kids : Finger Sponge Painting. We have been having fun with many art projects suited for toddler age to preschool in the past. You can take a look at our cotton round art or our wet tissue art. This sponge art project is best suited for kids 2-5. Things we used Cut up kitchen spongesThread or any fastenerPaint To start off I just wet cut up kitchen sponges little bit to remove the stiffness.

If you’d rather not use rubber band pick a fastener of your choice. With sponge fingers it was all about exploring I realized while watching the kids paint that trying to get the paint color you want on a particular finger is a good challenge for kids, especially for preschoolers. The kids made beautiful patterns by moving her fingers across the paper (one more vigorously than the other) My older one took care to move it hard enough to make marks while gentle enough to create a pattern she had in mind. Here is her plaid design. After the sponges from the fingers were removed, she used them to create a muddy rainbow here. Earth day activities- art activity. Art activities for kids : Magnetic Painting. Easy art projects for kids. Valentine Art with Potato Stamps. Like many of you, we love playing with paint in various ways. We have painted with spaghetti brushes, explored resist painting and have even painted trees.

My toddler has a new found interest – printing with objects. Stamping or printing with household objects captures her interest immediately because she has seen mom/dad use the said object for something else. She is instantly curious. What’s more fun than making Valentine art with this new found love? For the Valentine art supplies needed are very basic. I first drew different sizes of hearts on 2 pieces of (halved) potatoes. I cut off the part surrounding the heart so that it leaves the heart to be little raised.

With reds and pinks, we stamped away.. It was interesting to see my toddler learn as the process evolves. I brought out the cookie cutters and we did concentric hearts. My toddler was all about fully experiencing the potato stamps and creating beautiful valentine art with it. Here are all the heart prints. Thanks for reading. Art activities : tin can roll. Art Projects for kids : Oil Paint and Water Art. This art project is good for kids 4 and above. If you been following our blog, you would have noticed that we have been sharing quite a few easy art projects for kids. When taking up art projects for kids, easy really is the key. You just need a few supplies for this one but be prepared to be amazed with your kid.

Suminagashi art is an ancient Japanese technique for marbling paper using ink. It actually originated in China but has been practiced by the Japanese ever since. Sumingashi just means “floating ink” However, in this art project for kids we are using paints to create a similar effect. Things we used Thinned oil paintsShallow pan with waterMedicine dropper/spoonsStraws (optional)Thick paper I used Reeves brand oil color. It is better not to reuse the pan ( for cooking) you use for this art project. To create even more dramatic patterns, we blew air through straws and even stirred the water with the straw. Tada! Of course we did not stop with one. Our own marbleized paper. Easy Facepaint. Fall Art Activities : Fall Tree Art. Art Projects for Kids. Art Activities : Lazy Day Electronic Art. If you try this art activity, you will witness some tricks an electronic toothbrush can do – the way it can paint.

Yes, toothbrush painting done by a toothbrush. Continuing with the toothbrush art activity , we did another art project using motorized toothbrush – the battery operated one with vibrating bristles. Accidents that turn into art activities are simply the best. Yesterday the spilled water on the black paper gave us a better colors. Few weeks ago the kids left a motorized toothbrush on during an art activity and that gave us an idea for another project. An idea I saved specifically for a lazy day! You know summer has been great with play dates, park, beach, ice creams and movies. You will need only liquid water colors, a table (outdoor) and an electronic toothbrush. In case you are wondering we used an old pulsar toothbrush. Notes: For this to work, you need a very smooth and a flat surface.

She explored with many colors and tried forming overlapping circles. Recap of notes: Art Activities: Epsom Salt Painting. Art activities: Large scale vehicles painting. Art activity: Crafting a quill pen for writing. Here is an art activity with an old toothbrush. Here I explain how to make quill pens and invite the kids to create and write. Materials Needed: Old toothbrush Card stock paper cut into strips Card stock paper for the art itself Bamboo Skewers Liquid Water Colors I got this idea from one my school- age cousins who apparently saw this on a tv show. At first I had planned to do this activity in 2 steps. The first part as an art activity with my 4-year-old and the second part as a craft and finally end it with a fun creating/writing prompt. While attempting this art activity I realized that the first part was a bit too much for my preschooler soon to be kindergartener.

On to the “how-to” for the art activity. You will need strips of a thick paper (card stock) and a another clean card stock paper for the art itself. You will get something like the second picture below. Don’t press too hard and make quick movements so that the bristles don’t flatten the image. Now your fun writing tools are ready. Homemade cornstarch clay. This sensory play was supposed to be a busy play sensory activity for my kids. But it turned into so much more. I made a small batch of cornstarch clay/cornstarch playdough ( recipe follows) and handed it over to them and asked them to go to town squishing, squashing, cutting, creating whatever. It is nice to have both the kids past the mouthing stage so I don’t have to worry about them eating stuff during the times they are playing independently. Homemade cornstarch clay recipe Cornstarch Clay Recipe 1 cup cornstarch2 cups baking soda1 1/4 – 1 1/2 cups of water Mix cornstarch, baking soda and water in a saucepan on medium heat and start stirring.

We made a whole bunch of Spring themed little guys. We set out creations for a day to dry. The ornaments turned out really pretty with lots of glitter. A hopping bunny Of course flowers for spring with copious amounts of glitter. All our cornstarch clay ornaments here. We strung them through a string and made a fun garland for our mantle.

[/table] Art activities for kids : Citrus Stamping. Art activities for kids : Glue Resist Art. Puffy Paint Fall Art. Fall Activities: Leaves Art with puffy paint Puffy Paint- just the word sounds fun. The activity itself couldn’t have been more fun. The funnier part however was the day the girls chose to do this activity. We made fall art on a really HOT day! To make some amazing puffy paint right at home, I used the recipe from Mom to 2 posh lil Divas Ingredients for puffy paint 1 cup white flour2 Tbsp baking powder2 Tbsp saltWater Start adding water gradually until you reach a consistency of pancake batter. After the “batter” was done, we separated them into bowls and added food colors to each of them.

Now armed with our puffy paint,we gathered the following. Things you need Puffy PaintSqueeze bottlesBlack poster boardCups and spoons if you have toddler who will empty the contents in under 2 seconds. We put the puffy paint in different squeeze bottles and were ready to play. I love black poster boards – makes art very dramatic. Let me ask you this – Do toddler and squeeze bottles full of paint go together? Art Activities for Kids : Fold and Dye Tissue Art. Animal resist painting. Art Activities For Kids: Geometric Art. Welcome to another week of Paint and Play along with Growing a Jeweled Rose, and Mess for Less. Today we are exploring math and art and boy! It was so.much.fun. The kids used basic shapes to create art work. It was a great example of process-oriented art activities which all love and enjoy. I gathered all our wooden and foam blocks and set out an assortment of solids ( mostly cubes and cuboids) along with bright colored acrylic paint and few sheets of colored paper.

The creative prompt : “Create any art by using just these basic shapes” The kids set out to explore immediately. She used pretty much all the shapes, including the foam triangles to create her art work. My 5 year old true to form needs to create a scene! It was amazing to see her plan the art activity in her mind first and then she carefully chose her pieces to get what she wanted! That’s actually grandma’s! My toddler’s “product” of her process art. Some more 3 year old geometric art – this apparently is a butterfly garden. Art activities berry basket painting. We have yet another open ended art activity this time using berry baskets. Art activities from recycled materials are very fun and satisfying. We have in the past always tried to use recyclables for most of our craft and art projects. We have made paper roll castles and paper roll airplanes. We have done art activities using tin cans and egg cartons.

What’s fun about this art activity is that it needs only 2 major supplies – cut up berry baskets and paint. I used our strawberry baskets and cut up the sides to make 5 square stencils. She usually gets pretty psyched with open ended art activities simply becase there are no rules and no directions to follow. This may be a good opportunity to teach patterns and color recognition. Once satisfied with the design, remove the stencil and admire!

I should mention while painting squares it is better to use a small flat brush so that with one stroke one square/rectangle is filled in. This creation came together on its own. Thanks for reading. Spring Art: Art projects for kids using kitchen tools. My favorite season used to be fall. Now I’m a convert. To celebrate the wildflowers in full bloom, we have been having fun outdoors with tons of hikes and nature walks. To bring the season indoors we did this fun spring art activity which is great for both toddlers and preschoolers. Things we used 3 Pronged forkPaintBrushes Using the 3 pronged/tined fork we pressed firmly into the paint while making sure both the prongs and the base get paint. While printing she made sure to print using a 2 step motion. Once we printed using our forks, we drew the stems and leaves using green acrylic paint.

My toddler on the other hand is not very focused on the design or the pattern element of the spring art activity. I love my toddler’s unique and original open ended art work. My “design and pattern” loving 4 year’s old work. It’s always fun to participate in the activity with the kids. Some more spring crafts we have done in the past.
