Commodore 128 Advanced programming The commodore 128 can be used in three separate modes, the 128K mode is particularly attractive to the serious computer user. This book is intended for the owner who already knows the elements of program ming in BASIC, and who wants to make the Commodore 128 work for its living. Because the BASIC of the 128 is so much superior to that of the older C'64 model, much more can be accomplished without knowledge of machine-code, and this book fully stretches the abilities of the new BASIC. You will learn, for example, how to save and load BASIC as if it were machine-code, and how to save mixtures of BASIC and machine-code. Much space is devoted to getting the best from a disk drive, because if you're serious about computing this is the peripheral which you must certainly have.

The focal point of each chapter is the application ofBASICsubroutines to data processing, and to that end manyvery useful and original subroutines are included. ShadowM's Commodore 64 Pages. 1541 Ultimate with Ethernet MMC Replay with RR-Net I enjoy using and programming the Commodore 64 (one of the early home computers, for those of you who weren't there), and have a good collection of hardware and software. I'm mainly interested in operating systems and compilers, especially GEOS. (Scroll this page down for some content links.)

If you want, you can email me (shadowm at lyonlabs dot org). I'm hosting a Q-Link server, and have made a complete copy of the source code available to anyone who wants it. A big topic of interest these days is Ethernet cards for the Commodore 64. In April 2010, I released geoLink, which is an IRC client for GEOS that uses one of these cards. But the big problem with all of the CS8900A-based cards is that it's necessary to have a TCP/IP stack running on the Commodore, which is really quite a stretch, in terms of both speed and memory.
