DIY Braided Bead Bracelet

I don’t know about you, but our wrists have been begging for another colorful addition for months now. So after playing with some materials that were already on hand, we’ve created a tutorial for a braided bead bracelet, which is a not so distant cousin of the hex nut and wrap bracelet. Because honestly, you can never have too many . . . You’ll need: Cut the waxed linen cord into a 26″ and 19″ piece. Tie a knot about half an inch down from the loops. Start braiding the strands. Push the bead against the base of the braid, and cross the left strand over the middle. Keep a finger at the base of the braid, holding the beads in their place and keeping the braid tight. Finish the bracelet with another inch of braided cord, measuring it against the wrist.

Thread on a two hole button – two strands through one hole and one strand through another. Trim the end. Your bracelet is finished! (all images by HonestlyWTF) Crochet playgrounds (yes, really) This is surely the craftiest playground you’ll ever see.

Crochet playgrounds (yes, really)

Japanese artist Toshiko Horiuchi MacAdam became a playground designer quite by accident. In the mid nineties, she was exhibiting a large-scale crochet piece, ‘Multiple Hammock No. 1′, at an art gallery when two children asked if they could swing in it. MacAdam agreed and watched nervously as they climbed into the ‘hammock’. The crochet piece stretched, swayed and came alive in ways that MacAdam had not anticipated. It gave her an idea and in 2000, her first large-scale crochet playground, Rainbow Net, came to life.

Since that time, MacAdam has created several crochet playscapes around Japan. (via This is Colossal) Most favorited all-time - page 5. Zipper Card Pouch. [Update August 2014: I have another version of this zipper card pouch, they look about the same from the outside, but it is more spacious inside as I have hidden the seam allowance.]

Double Knitting - Knitting Community

You can double knit a stockinette scarf, and it will lay flat instead of curling. Color knitting will be reversible, showing a negative of the image on the back of the work instead of floats. How is this possible? How to make Gak (Slime) We had a few days of rain around here so we made some slime to occupy our time inside.

How to make Gak (Slime)

Just two ingredients and you will be able to really impress your kids! To make simply mix equal parts of liquid starch and glue together. We placed 1/4 cup liquid starch into a sandwich bag and added about 3 drops of green food coloring. Next add in 1/4 cup glue Mix well. Take it out of the bag and have fun! Looking for more ways to impress your kids? Need a way to use up the rest of the starch? You will find other rainy day activities here. Thanks Laci for asking us how to make Gak.
