Each unit can create local food economy that can empower communities to reduce the global footprint of food in a sustainable and profitable manner. Why Freight Farms? Food Deserts- Access to quality fresh food has become out of reach for communities in even the most industrialized parts of the world. Large regions no longer have the ability to harvest crops due to climate change, urban sprawl and shifts in the economic landscape. Food Miles- The carbon footprint of food is something we rarely think of when eating something like a fruit or vegetable. Food Cost- The costs of commercial growing are shared by everyone. Freight Farms can offer a low cost and low impact solution to these problems. Our GoalWe need to raise $26,040 in order to build the complete unit and put it into full harvest cycle.
