Latex mattresses mostly have above-average owner satisfaction. THE BAD. This is because of the many factors to consider (category, processing method, natural vs blended, etc.) as well as the fact that they can be difficult to try before buying because of their limited availability in mattress showrooms. Also, unlike most other bed types, latex mattresses overall have fairly limited consumer experience data available which makes accurately evaluating them challenging. How to Make a Four Season Room from a Porch. RON HAZELTON: Forty years ago when my house was built, screened-in porches were a great idea.

How to Make a Four Season Room from a Porch

But that was back in the days before central air conditioning was as common as it is today. But maybe all that air conditioning has made me a bit soft or spoiled, because as comfortable as this room is today, for a lot of the year, I find it too cold or too warm out here. So what I want to do is make this into a four seasons room. I want to preserve the cross ventilation and the great views but I want to be able to use it, year round. I start my project by prying off the wood stops that are holding the screen panels in place. Since the porch construction is pretty straightforward, eight columns supporting the roof, about the only other demolition I have to do is to remove some trim from the posts.

And I want to begin by putting a short wall between the posts about three feet high. This carbide tip masonry bit also bores through wood. Restoring Aluminum Siding - Page 2. We’re already on day #10 of my “11-in-2011″ challenge, and today’s goal couldn’t come at a better time. You might even have everything together already. My Organized Files. Ever since I posted a picture of my organized files, I’ve been bombarded with questions asking for more information about the specific categories and sub-categories I use {yes, I have sub-categories!}.

My Organized Files

I figured I would get this questions, and I’ll be honest, the main reason I hesitate to show you OUR categories is because they are OUR categories. They work for me, for Dave, and for our needs…but they might not work for you. For example; we file our home insurance under “home”, our vehicle insurance under “vehicles”, and our medical insurance under “medical. But you might simply have one folder labeled “Insurance” and file all your insurance information in that folder. So before I show you OUR files…consider a few things: Bringing the laundry out of the basement.

Bringing the laundry out of the basement

Heavens, Knight Ridder/Tribune. A laundry room can be as small as a closet or as large as a full bathroom. But one thing is certain: If the typical American family spends seven hours a week doing laundry, where they do it ought to be better than just a dank spot in the basement. In new homes, more laundry rooms are appearing on the first floor, near the kitchen or a mudroom, or even on the second floor. If you have an older home, you, too, may be able to find room on the second floor for a washer and dryer. And why not? With those numbers--two hours per load, a half-dozen or more loads per week--having the washer and dryer close to the dressing and undressing action takes on some significance. With recent data showing that houses with basement laundry rooms actually lose value at resale time (about 4 percent of the price), you might consider relocating the washer and dryer upstairs.

A New Spin On The Laundry Room. Movin' On Up Whether as the primary wash-and-dry center or a secondary one, upstairs laundry rooms are gaining in popularity.

A New Spin On The Laundry Room

You've seen them in tiny apartments: laundry closets with stackable washers and dryers. But today, you're just as likely to spot one on the second floor of a larger house, say, off the master bath to function as a hamper for damp towels, says Minneapolis architect Christine Albertsson. Thanks to new compact and quieter machines, the upstairs laundry room — often the second such dedicated space in the house—is a growing trend for homeowners who want their laundry as close as possible to the dirty clothes and bed linens.
