Handy help. Rubus chamaemorus. Rubus chamaemorus is a rhizomatous herb native to cool temperate, alpine, arctic tundra and boreal forest, producing amber-colored edible fruit similar to the raspberry or blackberry.

Rubus chamaemorus

English common names include cloudberry,[1] bakeapple (in Newfoundland and Labrador), knotberry and knoutberry (in England), aqpik or low-bush salmonberry (in Alaska - not to be confused with true salmonberry, Rubus spectabilis),[2] and averin or evron (in Scotland). Description[edit] Unlike most Rubus species, the cloudberry is dioecious, and fruit production by a female plant requires pollination from a male plant. The cloudberry grows to 10–25 cm (4–10 in) high.

The leaves alternate between having 5 and 7 soft, handlike lobes on straight, branchless stalks. Distribution and ecology[edit] Cloudberries occur naturally throughout the Northern Hemisphere from 78°N, south to about 55°N, and very scattered south to 44°N mainly in mountainous areas. What triggers the "adult" designation on Amazon Kindle books (romance genre)? - Ebooks Stack Exchange

One thing we encounter from time to time is that a book gets classified by Amazon as "adult". That effectively removes the book from normal searches. We can't figure out what triggers the "red flag" and Amazon isn't saying. The cover art doesn't seem to be any better, worse, more suggestive, whatever. Covers are definitely tamer than directly competitive books. For anyone else who has encountered this phenomenon, have you come up with any insights?

To the best of my knowledge, you can only see the ADULT tag via Amazon's API. To see an example, search amazon for the author "Blake Cross". To see the "ADULT" tag exposed via Amazon's API, go to and enter Blake Cross as the author name. The author/maintainer of Sales Rank Express explains his take on the ADULT tag in his FAQ at - in short, he says it appears to be arbitrary and inconsistent.
