Because manually entering large amounts of data can be tedious, CiviCRM provides a way do import data en masse if the source can export it into some common format such as a Comma Separated Version (CSV) file.

Considerations before importing It might be useful to think about your pre-existing data in the same way as the contents of a house or apartment when you need to move. People often use moving as a chance to say, "Do we really need this? This stuff is too old; let's trash it and get some new stuff once we have moved in. " To apply this metaphor to your data, look for fields that have no purpose, such as old organisational divisions that you've abandoned or office locations in a facility you no longer occupy.

Some old data will have continuing value. Preparing to import data from CSV files. CiviCRM extensions. Lcdservices/CiviEvent-Joomla-Module - GitHub. Screencasts. I want to say that I LOVE the idea of what they're trying to accomplish with CiviCRM and the fact that it's free is a testimony to what the open source community can do. It has a TON of features and overall seems like it has the potential to be amazing. That said, there are definitely some issues. 1. As others have said, the community leans more towards Drupal, and much of the official documentation references Drupal with not a peep about how to do something similar in Joomla. 2.

The component is written in such a way as to generate a massive amount of php and js calls. 3. One more pet peeve on the mailing. 4. All activity types include fields for the activity's subject, location, date/time, duration and description. Built-in Activity Types The type of activity and its description are defined in Activity Types. Configure Activity Types Go to Administer CiviCRM. These fields can be used in Profiles or in standard forms and screens, such as view contacts. The CUSTOM DATA function allows user-defined data fields and labels. CUSTOM FIELDS are data fields not included in the standard version of CIVICRM. CUSTOM DATA FIELDS are created using the CUSTOM DATA function (see below). CUSTOM FIELD SETS are used to collect and store information not included in standard CIVICRM forms. For example, you could create a CUSTOM FIELD SET to hold data about summer camp participants. En.flossmanuals.net/CiviCRM/ CiviCRM is a powerful, web-based contact relationship management (CRM) system.

It allows an organisation to record and manage information about the various people and other organizations it deals with. CiviCRM is more than just an address book, it also allows you to track your interactions with people and organizations and to get them to engage with, and potentially give money to, your organization through your website. The information you gather is all stored in one place but you can access it from almost anywhere. CiviCRM focuses on the needs of non-profits. Most business CRMs are focused on managing commerce; CiviCRM emphasizes communicating with individuals, community engagement, managing contributions, and administering memberships.

CiviCRM is open source, which means there are no license costs or user fees associated with downloading, installing or using the software. CiviCRM is web-based, which means it can be accessed by many users at the same time from different locations. CiviCRM - Browse /civicrm-stable. Joomla Installation Guide for CiviCRM 3.4. 1.
