Lefebvre's Upholstery: My Furniture is Stuffed with WHAT? This post will serve as a bit of a quick upholstery lesson for those who may be interested.

Lefebvre's Upholstery: My Furniture is Stuffed with WHAT?

It happens quite often that some of our clients are shocked by the fact that a chair or sofa could be stuffed with straw. Most people know about horse hair, but there is a wide range of materials used to stuff upholstered pieces, and the point of this post is to just quickly explain a few of the most common ones. The stuffing materials discussed here mainly pertain to antique pieces older than 1950. STRAW: By far one of the most popular stuffing materials (which has been used for centuries) is straw. When I first started working for Pierre at Lefebvre's Upholstery, I wasn't really aware of just how common it is to find straw in upholstered furniture.

Here is an early 1900s chair with a straw and cotton stuffed seat: The advantage of straw is that it's very durable, cheap, and it was readily available. Upholsterer Job Information. Fabulous Fabric Friday – William Yeoward

In an attempt to make summer last a little longer, I have fallen in love with William Yeoward’s ranges all over again. His Polperro and St Mawes collections in particular make me completely weak at the knees. I love their clean, unfussy nautical palette – especially coupled with some rough old wooden boxes. I’m nuts about the paisley and floral prints (Antony and Millbrook) that look like they were inspired by Indian block-prints – they add a sweet, feminine touch.

The rough-hewn Tuckingmill stripe is enough to completely unravel me – it’s naive and unpretentious. Antony Printed Paisley Cotton Fabric. £52.00 per metre A paisley style design in blue and soft red printed on an off white cotton Got a Question?

However, if I had first come across the fabric online I would have been confused as the colour is actually cream! My curtains were made up using the 7 day service: they are well made, to specifications and were indeed delivered to my home within 7 days. My only criticism would be the lack of detailed fabric care information: the enclosed leaflet explained that the curtains may need ironing and, indeed, mine did need a little ironing. With no indication anywhere as to what temperature the iron should be, I set it to 'warm' (2 dots) and gently spritzed the worst creases with water.
