Accommodation Whilst you are on your project, you will stay in a unique family run guesthouse. It is situated in the centre of Siem Reap in a quiet area, not too far from the hustle and bustle of the bars and shops so that you can explore in your free time. You will share a fan room with up to two other volunteers. Meals Breakfast will be provided for you. Is this trip for you? Creativity, child friendly behaviour and an educational background are important but not essential elements to work with our children. Orientation Once met by a representative of our overseas partner, you will be transferred from the airport to your accommodation where you can relax and familiarise yourself with your surroundings.
Please note: You will need to send us a copy of your CV to pass onto the project to take part in the volunteering. Advice & Safety. Thailand Community and Elephant Volunteers. Day 1: You'll arrive into Bangkok (airport code BKK)and transfer to the world famous travellers' centre, Khao San Road, to stay overnight in shared accommodation in the heart of the action of Bangkok.
Day 2: Today is orientation day and a Bangkok city tour. Visit some of the most famous sites of the city including Wat Pho, Wat Arun and Wat Phra Keaw (the Grand Palace – note, entrance to the Grand Palace is not included and is optional). You’ll get the chance to soak up the sites, sounds and atmosphere of one of the world’s most vibrant cities.
Day 3: Today you'll transfer by train to Surin, an experience in itself! Taking around 6 -7 hours the train passes slowly through the suburbs of Bangkok before heading through the edge of Khao Yai National park and into Isaan – the heartland of Thailand. Day 4: Today you'll transfer in the morning to the Elephant village – where the adventure really begins. Days 5 – 7: Project work. Please note: Itineraries and activities are subject to change. Please be prepared that you may be working with volunteers of all ages. Accommodation Your accommodation in Stone Town is in a renovated colonial hostel right in the centre of the action, and is for the use of the volunteers only. You’ll be woken each the morning by the sounds of the Muesin calling people to prayer! Each room has its own bathroom although one bedroom has a separate bathroom - rooms are basic but do have a western style toilet, sink and a shower, water is based on cold water but we are sure that you will enjoy this due to the hot weather! Your bed will have its own mosquito net and bedding is provided. There is a lock on your bedroom door and there is always a security guard on duty. Meals Breakfast will be made for you and is great opportunity to try the weird and wonderful local fruits that are in season.
