Tutorial time! I got a gig teaching a recycled t-shirt project at the library a few months ago, with a request for a recycled tee bag – the only bags I’d made from tees in the past had required sturdy sewing, and I didn’t want hand-sewing to be the only thing holding the bottom closed in a class version of the bags, so I started brainstorming about some kind of hand-sewing-friendly or no-sew bag idea…. and here’s what I came up with! The simplest version of these bags is great for smaller tees, or the more light-weight kind of girl-tees – just turn the bottom of the shirt into a drawstring and tie it closed! As you can see, even with a not huge tee, this will still leave a significant hole in the bottom of your bag, but for purposes like grocery shopping, this size hole shouldn’t really matter… But to make smaller holes, just make more than one of them!

Here’s a bag bottom with 2 holes: You could make it rounded, V-shaped, or squared like this one: My finished Sonic bag! No-Sew Book Cover for your eReader or Tablet - Viewing Comments 1-40. I found this cheap book club edition of "Meditations" by Marcus Aurelius that was just perfect. Terrarium Centerpieces  The other week, my good friend Stephanie and I planned out a craft weekend.

Our mission: Terrariums. Not the kind you keep lizards in, but the kind you can seal up and watch the moss grow. It was fun, cheap, and easy, and while we were creating them I realized how awesome they would be as centerpieces at a wedding. They are totally unique, creative, and beautiful. We each made four of them, which just goes to show they are not even that labor intensive. Terrariums are meant to be long lasting, so you can even make some months before the wedding and still have them thriving in time for the big day. So lets get down to the nitty-gritty of how you can actually make them: Step 1: Materials • Glass containers in whatever size you heart most. . • Good dirt and rocks. . • Figurines or decorative rocks to place inside. . • Horticultural Charcoal. . • Moss (another one of those things you can find outside, but can also order if you don’t live somewhere it doesn’t grow naturally). - Paula Hayes - Eco Sphere. DIY Gift: Terrarium Kit.

November 30th, 2012 It’s widely accepted that terrariums are awesome, which means they also make awesome gifts. It’s hard to wrap a terrarium though, so a DIY kit is the perfect solution. It would be easy to whip up a whole bunch of these kits if you need a lot of inexpensive, creative gifts. Or wouldn’t they make amazing party/wedding favors? I designed some free printable cards with planting and care instructions for you to download and include in your terrarium kit. The recipient will just need to add soil and plants! To make your kit, first put about an inch of small stones in the bottom of a jar.

Print a 3 1/2″ x 5 1/4″ terrarium instruction card on card stock, and cut it out (download printable cards here—for personal use only please). If you’re feeling ambitious you could make a few polymer clay mushrooms to include in your terrarium kit. Tie some twine or ribbon around the jar, and you’re done. Terrarium. Terrariums. Does a soft, whimpering cry mean he's got a wet diaper -- or that he's getting hungry? What about a loud screech? And forget about crying for a moment -- what does it mean when your baby rubs her ears, or flails her arms around? Babies communicate long before they say their first words, says Linda Acredolo, Ph.D., professor emeritus of psychology at University of California, Davis, and author of Baby Signs.

"Babies are born with the ability to express several emotions, including distress and contentment," she says. When we read their cues and respond quickly to their needs, she adds, babies feel secure and the parent-child bond is strengthened. MAKING FACES Little frowns, wrinkled foreheads -- your baby's expressions can be fleeting and easy to miss, admits David Hill, M.D., adjunct assistant professor of pediatrics at University of North Carolina Medical School.
