You know we love turning unconventional materials into wearable accessories. Knotted Chevron Headband. Lacquered Lace Cuff Bracelet. This cuff uses the lacquered lace I showed how to make in my last post.

Lacquered Lace Cuff Bracelet

I used the pattern of the lace to make a triangular shape that falls over the back of my hand, but you could easily do this in all sorts of shapes. Supplies: - lacquered lace (click here for the how-to) - very sharp scissors - jump ring - clasp - jewelry pliers Carefully trim your lace down to the shape you want – I followed the heaviest threads in the lace pattern and trimmed off the filler netting.

Push a jump ring through the lace, but keep it as far in from the edge as you can. Do the same on the other side, adding a clasp to that jump ring. Friendship Bracelets {Craft Camp} I am excited to be offering 30 days of fun crafts to keep kids active and entertained this summer!

We promise they are super easy to make and the perfect way to pass the time during those long summer roadtrips. To make a 2-tone necklace, cut a long piece of rope and wrap two different colors of embroidery thread around its own bobbin. Tie a starter knot along with the two colored threads you are using, leaving at least 3 inches of slack, Tape down the slack to a flat surface or safety pin it something that will help keep it in place (feeling nostalgic yet?).

Lay the color that isn’t being used (shown here in purple) in your left hand, along with the rope, and hold them taut. Take the active color (shown here in red) in your right hand, pass it over the rope, loop it under and back through the opening. To alternate colors, simply put the inactive color (red) in your left hand and the new active color (purple) in your right. Make pie chart paper pendants. If charts, graphs and metrics are your thing, you might enjoy crafting some pie chart pendants.

Make pie chart paper pendants

They're made entirely of paper. Oh, and a little glue, thread and a jump ring if you want to get technical. Which you probably do, if you're the kind of person who likes pie charts. With a punch (I used a 1" circle), cut out about 12 circles of cardstock. You can add as many circles to the pendant as needed to get the thickness you want, of course.

Glue the circles into a stack one at a time. Double a small length of thread and tie it to a jump ring. Cut some wedges of colored paper for the top layer and glue them on. To seal it, you can brush it with polycrylic or Triple Thick. The little DIY color-blocked necklaces are cute and light-weight. Friendship Bracelets. Friendship Bracelets

All the girls at my school would obsessively make them for one another in a dizzying variety of colors, widths, and patterns. It's amazing, thinking back, that such young girls could make such beautifully intricate accessories. I, of course, tried my hand at making them as well. I would ride my bike down to the five-and-dime store and pick out the most sophisticated color combinations of embroidery floss I could find, but when it came to the actual macramé I never got beyond plain stripes. There was nothing wrong with plain stripes, except that the other girls seemed so much more advanced with their diamonds and chevrons.
