I believe we can all agree that the recent G.I. Joe movie even further differs from the original cartoons and comics in regards to story details.

Dummies Guide to Writing a Transmedia Production Bible | PERSONALIZE MEDIA

http://www.personalizemedia.com/dummies-guide-to-writing-a-transmedia-production-bible/ OK not really a Dummies guide as there are some complex elements in here, but one has to use whatever memes are in vogue A few weeks ago I was commissioned by Screen Australia to write a very basic structure & guide for producers relatively new to multi platform content to structure & document their propositions, after they have developed the ‘audience centric’ concepts. This has just been published on the Screen Australia site as a digital resource for those needing to document projects for transmedia productions. Background? I had already been using a range of structures in my 17 years as cross media producer (BBC, MUVEDesign , GaryHayes.TV etc:) and lecturer (recently Multi Platform course lead at LAMP , Australian Film TV and Radio School , Metro Screen & many international workshops).

Rather than fight or deny the audience’s split attention between TV show and simultaneous use of a second-screen – be it phone, tablet, laptop or whatever is to come next – networks would do best to commission shows that tell stories across both screens. The key is to tell multi-platform stories: not repurposing B-roll content (that doesn’t create a compelling enough mobile value proposition) or churning out tedious encyclopedic character detail (let the fans create that) but by writing multi-layered stories with additional sub-plots and parallel plots intended specifically for mobile and to be enjoyed socially either at air time or later on demand.

Part Tolkien and part Bruce Springsteen, Jeff Gomez ’85 helps Hollywood and Fortune 500 companies tell their stories across multiple media platforms You can’t hide in your bedroom and “play with your plastic dinosaurs forever,” muses the boy inside Jeff Gomez ’85. Instead, through his imagination, this lonely Latino child from the Lower East Side morphed into a globe-trotting storyline universe creator, consultant, and producer. From a gritty childhood and an adolescence of playing Dungeons & Dragons in the Queens College Student Union, he has shaped a professional life immersed in dozens of fictional worlds. President and CEO of Starlight Runner Entertainment in Manhattan, Gomez is a guru of transmedia storytelling, which involves creating a narrative robust enough to span animation, ads, films, web content, and books to video games, toys, and theme parks.

Video: Understanding Youth with storytelling and games » strategy

June 9, 2011 by Jennifer Horn Email/Share It’s one thing to inject a brand and its promotional package into platforms accessible to youth, but to actually get them to experience and live the brand is a whole other ball game. So say the speakers at yesterday’s Understanding Youth conference, a strategy magazine-hosted event in Toronto, where marketing concepts from across the social, mobile and digital media board were introduced and illustrated to attendees in an effort to understand what really drives youth to engage with a brand. A recurring podium discussion was that of gamification. Points-based gaming, such as the Facebook Farmville application, mentioned by Rajat Paharia, founder and CPO of Bunchball.com, is a key influencer in attracting and retaining users. “People love points…they can be indicators of status and seniority in the community,” he said. http://strategyonline.ca/2011/06/09/video-understanding-youth-with-storytelling-and-games/

Trans-Immediate Transmedia: Mysteries of Storytelling in Real-Time « Transmedia International Masterclass

http://www.transmedia-international-masterclass.com/storytelling/mysteries-of-storytelling-in-real-time/ When a video game is developed the designers must try and answer every question before the game is released. Even when we fail, we still can have days, even weeks, before we release an update to remedy any lapses in our design. The Case of the Panicked Mechanic, The Case of the Disappearing Den, The Case of the Cantankerous Coca-Cola Crew and other mysteries, will illustrate how telling transmedia stories in real-time in the real world often demands instantaneous solutions to unforeseen problems: an entire new level of writing and design challenges. 0 0 0 share 0 share New
