A Hunger for Recognition Greg was among my toughest students in a tough year of teaching high school. Physically he attended class, but academically he was missing. The person behind these 7 Cs is Ronald Ferguson from the Harvard Kennedy School . He is an educational researcher who presented his work on teacher effectiveness in a recent keynote in an educational assessment conference. One of the things you will notice in this classification is the absence of the digital component. Technology is a tool and not an end and the 7 Cs mentioned here are behavioural strategies which technology or any other tool can be used to achieve.

Teachers Need More Proof In the national surveys (with the exception of the Common Sense Media Survey), teachers seem to be leaning toward the idea that technology is a helpful tool in their classrooms.
They are open to using technology, currently use technology, and many desire to use more technology. Teachers are especially enthusiastic about technology when it comes to professional development, putting together classroom lesson plans, and collaborating with other teachers. However, across the five surveys, when asked how technology is beneficial to the students’ learning, there was an emphasis on learning processes and higher-level skills rather than on academic achievement.
For example, teachers cite opportunities for more personalized learning, increased motivation, collaboration and pro-social behavior, and student efficiency and productivity (see Section “Benefits of Technology for Student Learning”). Typically, this information is collected through paper or online surveys completed at the end of sessions, in which teachers rate their learning experiences, provide feedback on activities, and make recommendations for future sessions.
