Contest ends Friday! ** I love these colors together. Gosh, this smoothie was pretty. Yes, was. If you haven’t heard me proclaim my love for my immersion blender , you must be pretty new around here. And I was almost giddy when I realized my blade would fit in a wide-mouth quart-sized mason jar. I got the idea for these from a little kids cookbook that was given to me by a friend. So I started from scratch, keeping only the orange juice in the original recipe and created a much more vibrant version, without milk or yogurt. 100% fruit and juice. Watermelon Agua Fresca Smoothie. Brazilian Lemonade

Ever. Maybe I’d feel differently if I drank (as in alcohol), but there is nothing I love more than a warm, breezy afternoon and a pitcher of Brazilian lemonade. I didn’t try it for a long, long time because I was very put off by putting sweetened condensed milk in with citrus fruit. It seemed very wrong. And then I had some at Tucano’s and my life has not been the same since. It starts off with fresh, juicy limes. You pop them in a blender with some sugar water and pulse just a few times. Pour the mixture from the blender through a strainer and into a pitcher, thus saving all of the flavorful liquid. Then the secret ingredient: sweetened condensed milk. Brazilian LemonadeOur Best Bites Ingredients: 4 juicy limes (try and find ones with thin, smooth skins; they’re the juiciest and the thin skin cuts down on the chance of your drink being bitter) 1 c. sugar 6 c. cold water 6 Tbsp. sweetened condensed milk Instructions: Place 1/2 of the limes in your blender.

It is awesome. We’ve been loving it. Eating lunch outside, playing in the dirt behind the house, kicking a soccer ball around(otherwise known as playing fetch with the baby who runs after it and brings it back :D), and of course getting yard work done. My husband has been getting so much work around the yard done to make things look good. And now things are finally really sprouting, even the trees are looking green. Oh well, now I have a pretty pink tulip in my kitchen Today is a little more grey than it has been, but it’s a nice chance to get things done inside before we have a super sunny weekend. Tropical Pineapple Coconut Banana Smoothie

A warm day and the motivation to pull out the blender are all I really need – and the warmer the day, the more likely I am to want to pull out that blender! Once it’s out, of course, you still need to figure out what to throw in there. Fortunately, almost any fruit will do.I gave this smoothie a tropical twist. I started with ripe bananas, fresh pineapple and shredded coconut. I added some plain yogurt and coconut milk to give it a creamy texture, and the coconut milk enhanced the flavor of the shredded coconut.

It’s light and refreshing, and definitely a tropical start to the day if you make one of these with breakfast. Tropical Pineapple Coconut Banana Smoothie 1/2 cup pineapple juice 1/2 cup coconut milk 1/2 cup plain or vanilla yogurt 1 medium banana 1/2 cup crushed or chopped pineapple 1/4 cup sweetened, shredded coconut 1 tsp vanilla extract 3/4 cup ice (optional) 2 tbsp sugar Serves 2.
