Journal of the American Shore and Beach Preservation Association First published in October, 1933, Shore & Beach is the quarterly, peer-reviewed journal of the American Shore and Beach Preservation Association (ASBPA) dedicated to publishing sound, interesting technical information concerning the shores and beaches of the nation and the world.

Its main purpose is to further the goals of ASBPA as affirmed in the mission statement of the organization: “The purpose of the Association is to bring together for cooperation and mutual helpfulness the many agencies, interests and individuals concerned with the protection and proper utilization of these lands, and in all legitimate ways to foster that sound, far-sighted and economical development and preservation of the lands which will aid in placing their benefits within the reach of the largest possible number of people in accordance with the ideals of a democratic nation.”

El ISSN (International Standard Serial Number, Número Internacional Normalizado de Publicaciones Seriadas) es un número internacional que permite identificar de manera única una colección, evitando el trabajo y posibles errores de transcribir el título o la información bibliográfica pertinente. Se reserva a las publicaciones en serie como los diarios y las publicaciones periódicas. El ISSN permite normalizar las clasificaciones, en las bibliotecas por ejemplo. En libros se usa el Número Estándar Internacional de Libro (ISBN, International Standard Book Number) El ISSN está normalizado por el texto ISO 3297 (ICS n° 01.140.20).

Introducción[editar] El ISSN está constituido por los caracteres "ISSN" seguidos de dos grupos de cuatro cifras separados por guiones. Contrariamente al ISBN, las cifras del ISSN no significan nada en sí mismas. Función del ISSN[editar] El ISSN identifica de manera inequívoca una publicación seriada, y puede cumplir entre otras, las siguientes funciones: ISSN-L[editar]

Literatura citada. Esta sección del artículo contiene las fichas bibliográficas de las referencias citadas en el texto. Aunque los términos bibliografía, referencias y literatura citada se usan a menudo como sinónimos, el primero debe usarse cuando se presenta una recopilación completa de la literatura sobre el tema, el segundo cuando se presenta una selección de artículos y el tercero cuando todos los artículos citados en el texto aparecen en la lista de referencias y viceversa. El título apropiado para los artículos científicos es Literatura Citada. La Literatura Citada incluye artículos publicados en revistas científicas, artículos aceptados para publicación en revistas científicas (se citan en el texto usando en prensa o in press en vez del año de publicación), capítulos de libros, libros, tesis depositadas en bibliotecas y documentos publicados en la Internet. Los sistemas principales usados para citar la literatura son el de autor y año, y el de cita por número.
