Image Credit: "? " by Sublime Dharma Students in most of my classes have blogging as a component of their grades. Many of them have rarely even read blogs, no less written one of their own. In this post, I am combining many posts I’ve previously written to help them get started in WordPress. Review the slides in my “Getting Started in WordPress” presentation below. In our PR Applications classes (COMM 2322 at Southeastern University), we’ll all blog about the same general topic each week during the semester.

Your TOWs of 300 words or more should be posted by Saturday at midnight at the end of each week. If you are unsure how to get started writing these TOWs, many times you can use this three-pronged approach: What did you learn? What surprised you? What do you want to know more about? Using the three-pronged approach (above), what are your reactions to the NewsU Course you took on Understanding Media: Processes and Principles? What is a “public”? Why are comments such an integral part of blogs? If you could work in an era of PR history (from a time before you were born), which one would it be?

Based on what you read in Chapter 4 of your Public Relations Strategies & Tactics book, do you think it’s more beneficial for a new PR practitioner to begin his/her career in a PR department or in a PR firm? By Mail Foreign Service Updated: 16:47 GMT, 27 August 2010 It was a final chance to say goodbye for grieving mother Kate Ogg after doctors gave up hope of saving her premature baby. She tearfully told her lifeless son - born at 27 weeks weighing 2lb - how much she loved him and cuddled him tightly, not wanting to let him go.

Although little Jamie's twin sister Emily had been delivered successfully, doctors had given Mrs Ogg the news all mothers dread - that after 20 minutes of battling to get her son to breathe, they had declared him dead. Awful moment: Kate and David clasp each other and their son Jamie, circled, after being told he did not survive the birth. They were given the child to say their goodbyes but then, miraculously, two hours later he began to show signs of life Signs of life: A smiling Kate holds Jamie after it becomes clear that her son is going to survive Having given up on a miracle, Mrs Ogg unwrapped the baby from his blanket and held him against her skin. Internet + Refrigerator Art = Crazy Delicious « uTodd, because sometimes @tsand thinks bigger than 140 characters. Internet + Refrigerator Art = Crazy Delicious It all began on a lazy Sunday back in June.

My daughter was quickly growing bored with summer vacation, a variety of boredom that a stack of art supplies couldn’t even cure. She was lacking inspiration… and the thought of another butterfly (#173/300) wasn’t helping. One tweet later, problem solved: “6yr old daughter is making fridge art. Tweet a request and we’ll take a pic and tweet a link, print out for your fridge if you like it!!!” The request: I need a scary monster with “Keep Out” … my 3yo keeps invading and spilling. From @aaronjstreet The request: Can she draw an owl that will scare squirrels and chipmunks from my yard? From @epsteada The request: I would like some fridge art that says “The Beer is Daddy’s.” or something like that.

From @bpmore Now that school is starting up she’ll be busy and less bored, so your request might get the back burner. How about giant squid attacking submarine? The starting point: West Amazon. Together they hauled everything from mattresses to furniture, to appliances, to electronics, to packing boxes. Kids and adults alike carried giant loads, and every conceivable bicycle hauling method was represented. The band of Bike Movers made two trips over the course of the day.

Five Ways to Make Your Resume Stand Out (PR Edition) By Kiersten Kaye (@klkaye) I know it’s cliché, but if I had a dollar for every time someone told me “I hate recruiters” or “Looking for a job is SO hard,” I’d be a very rich woman. The fact of the matter is, most people find the hiring process to be frustrating because of a lack of reciprocation. First you apply to a job online and then you receive a generic email that says “Thank you for your interest in X company. We have received your resume. If your experience matches one of our open roles…” – and then it’s crickets. So, what can you do to make your resume stand out and increase your odds of receiving the elusive call (or email) back? Here are the top five ways to make your resume stand out when applying to a PR agency #1 “I have agency experience” Recruiters and hiring managers automatically scan your resume and look for PR agency names.

. #2 “I worked with clients X, Y and Z” The next thing PR folks want to know is what kind of PR experience you have. . #3 “I am a media maven” Like this: Outlet Home & Home Office - Refurbished Laptops - Refurbished Laptop - Refurbished Notebook. (CNN) -- Alesaundra Tafoya's parents have been teaching their daughter about safety in their Northern California community, pointing out such safe havens as fire stations if she ever finds herself in trouble.

They weren't, however, expecting 3-year-old Alesaundra to call upon those lessons when one of them needed help -- but that's exactly what she did Friday when her father collapsed in their Manteca, California, home. Frank Tafoya told CNN affiliate KOVR that he "took a mixture of medication I wasn't supposed to at the time -- a bed-time dose -- and I guess I collapsed.
