El diseño resuelve una estantería para almacenar libros y otros objetos, partiendo de una retícula ortogonal modificada bajo una re-formación plástica que re-define la geometría regular de la estructura. Esta construida con madera lamida y corte computarizado tipo “CNC milling technology”. Softshelf se inspira en la idea de crear una biblioteca que deforma la red celular con el fin de crear un espacio ocupable personalizado, diferenciado y suave para el almacenamiento de libros y otros objetos. Este sistema de fabricación, permite que la forma final se pueda personalizar a demanda, en función del tamaño y del efecto de expansión y contracción que se aplica sobre la retícula y/o las paredes de las celdas.

The winners brought not only ingenuity to their designs, but a sense of beauty and functionality that excited the jury. The final jury, which chose 3 winners from 15 finalists, included award-winning architects: Tod Williams of TWBTA, Chris Sharples of SHoP Architects, Tom Wiscombe of Emergent, Dror Benshetrit of Studio Dror and Thomas Christoffersen from BIG.
