Hourglass Star Quilt. Hello!

Hourglass Star Quilt

My name is Erica from Kitchen Table Quilting and I am here to share a quilt made with a fat eighth bundle of Bonnie and Camille's beautiful new April Showers collection. This quilt is really quick to put together and it is a great way to show of some of those pretty fabrics. 1 Fat Eighth Bundle April Showers 2.5 Yards Moda Weave 1/4 Yard Teal Border Fabric 1/2 Yard Umbrella Border Fabric 1/2 Yard Binding Fabric From your background fabric cut: 4 strips 8"xWOF. Oh My Stars! (A Quilt-Along) Welcome to my very first quilt-along!

Oh My Stars! (A Quilt-Along)

Things are drawing to a close around here (just one more link-up post to go!) , but don’t worry, this page isn’t going anywhere. So if you’re just getting started, or plan on getting to this quilt “someday,” you can count on things being here when you need them. There are three main posts that outline the project: If you have a Flickr account, then I would love it if you joined the Oh My Stars! And if you feel so inclined, I’d love it if you would include the following blog button on any posts about the quilt, so that anyone else who is interested in the project can find the information. Finally, you can click on the images below to find the full tutorials for each star (use as many or as few as you’d like!)

Like this: Like Loading... Tutorial: July star blocks. This is probably the most basic star block. But it is a classic favorite that looks good in any fabric, and is easy to re-size to make smaller or larger. My blocks finish at 11" (10.5" after squaring…if you square them). Start with 8 – 4" background squares, 1 – 4" center square, and 8 – 3" squares for the star points. On 4 of the background squares place a 3" square in a corner right sides together and sew from corner to corner. The tape trick comes in handy again on these blocks. Place another 3" square in an adjacent corner and repeat the steps. Layout your squares again and sew the squares into three rows. Press the seams of each row in opposite directions, and sew the rows together. The finished block should be 11". 48 blocks (6 in each row, 8 rows) makes a perfect twin size at 60" x 80".
