Back in the day, video games weren't just simple pixels; they were simple in color, as well! From playing Pong in black and white to the full-color games available today, video game colors have come a long way. I get a few of these infographics every month, but honestly, most of them have not been particularly intriguing from an education technology perspective. This one, however, is relevant, with 4 sections of ed tech related grapical information, offering an array of “facts” to consider. It also raises lots of questions. A few interesting bits of information in the image stood out to me: Faculty Views of the value of social media for class by site: I’m pleased to see the percentage of faculty that see many social media tools as being either “very valuable” or of “some value” for a good number of these tools.

As a matter of fact, the state of Missouri recently passed a law that makes it illegal for teachers and students to be connected on any social media site. As a parent, I can certainly understand the concern with that; however, I’d like to talk about a different aspect of students and social media today. As adults, we all know that social media is already and will continue to become a huge part of our daily lives. Whether it’s used for keeping up with friends, meeting new business associates, networking, or just plain having fun, social media is here to stay. I really don’t think that is debatable anymore, it’s simply a fact.
