Amongst the iconic lots of this auction are an oil painting on canvas by Arthur von Ferraris, two portraits by José Cruz Herrera, a Kashan tile from the beginning of the 13th century, and a two Iznik panel from c.1580. In a global context where the rising of Emirates' new museums drives the market, and where the renewal of the Louvre's Islamic Arts Department arouses the interest of the general public in France, the two annual auctions of MILLON offer the occasion to appreciate the many Arts from Morocco to India, from the 9th to the 19th century, and the visions of Orient through the proposed orientalist paintings and sculptures.

Many of these works of art saw the light of day in hot, dry, barren regions, which might explain why the lushness of the Paradise described in the Qur'an and that of artificially irrigated earthly gardens was especially attractive to Muslim artists.
