Vin Crosbie | June 12, 2009 Ask most people who think of themselves as new media experts what the greatest change in the media has been in the past 35 years, and you'll hear such answers as "the Internet," "social media," "search engines," or "iPhones." They're wrong.
Today, while browsing the WordPress website, I noticed that WordPress 2.8 Beta was available for testing. So, I decided to download it and give it a test run. Here is a list of major changes that make this release a bit different from the earlier versions. A new sub-section has been added to the Posts section called “Post Tags” that contains all the tags that have been used so far in your blog. Just like categories, you can change the Tag name, Tag slug and also add description for your tags. When managing your themes earlier, you had to click on a particular theme’s screenshot and then activate or discard it from the enlarged theme preview screen.
In a fragmented media society, where attention is a scarce resource, the value of good marketers and marketing agencies just keeps increasing. At the same time, competition for marketing jobs is fierce and while the industry itself is hot, there is still as much a need as ever to stand out . With that in mind, I was thinking today it might be helpful if I share some things new marketers could do when entering the industry to give themselves the edge against the competition.
Microsoft plans on issuing free CRM Accelerators for Microsoft Dynamics CRM that will help businesses pull data from social networks, Web interaction channels and other sources, as well as reduce overall costs. The accelerators will be released at an unannounced date within the next few weeks. "These new accelerators expand the capabilities of Microsoft Dynamics CRM to address emerging business trends in social networking and drive efficiencies in collaborative business processes," Brad Wilson, general manager of Microsoft Dynamics CRM, said in a statement accompanying the July 9 announcement. The free CRM Accelerators include: Social Networking Accelerator: Businesses can use this accelerator to monitor and analyze customer conversation on social networking sites; the initial rollout integrates the application with Twitter, but Microsoft says that future releases will include other social networks.
