Iran and Social Media – watershed moments in history. For anyone following any of the reports coming our of Iran it isn’t very difficult to see that to potential for change is sitting on the cusp.
It’s been bloody, it’s been violent and people have been hurt and some have died. Change doesn’t come without a cost but most of the world are only getting an inkling of the cost being incurred by the people of Iran. News organization after organizations have been tossed from the country and those mainstream media reporters and photographers who have managed to stay do so at great risk to their lives. The only window we have at this point into this watershed moment in Iran’s history is because of those gallant and dedicated journalists and photographers. However they are not alone in the documentation of change.
How Wise Is The Crowd (Even If It Is Social Media Crowd)? Earlier this week I published a post about ProProfs Polls , a new service for online polls that features some advantages over the traditional market leaders. When writing the post, I could not avoid asking myself why we already have so many web polling services already and why new ones are still launched to impress their target users with broader features. My idea was that people just love to be able to hear what people around them think on this or that issue. In fact, the press release that I received from the ProProfs guys mentioned that wisdom of the crowd is a powerful phenomenon with “Ask the Audience” being the most popular lifeline of the “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” TV show with a near 95% accuracy. This sounded like a proof of the fact that collective wisdom of the crowd is smarter than any individual of the group.
Here is one example. REPORT: Professional Networking Dominates Job Boards. As you a already well aware, I believe that job boards won’t exist in the future and that the transaction between hiring managers and applicants will be completely networked.
Therefore, your network will become your only insurance policy and people will become the ultimate asset to your career. You won’t be conducting a job search because you won’t need to. Instead, you’ll be locating people who work for companies you’re actually interested in and they will process.
