Nursing Cover With Secret Pocket - Sew4Home. We've had several requests for a stylish nursing cover, and have risen to the challenge with this very easy-to-make version – complete with a hidden inside pocket for nursing pads or baby wipes. The more common name for this item out on the Internet appears to be: 'Hooter Hider' – uh, alrighty then. Makes me think of skimpy t-shirts and chicken wings, so I'm stickin' with Nursing Cover if it's all the same to you. Ours is soft knit on the outside with a woven cotton print on the inside, giving Mom something pretty to look at. The finished size of our cover is 24" x 36". To wear, simply place the cover over your baby, wrap the strap around your neck, and adjust it so the curve of the boning (encased in a channel along the top front) creates a little window.

You're completely covered, but you can still keep on eye on happy baby from up above. Any Sewing Machine (we recommend the Janome 4120QDC) Make the pocket Fold under the two 9" sides of the pocket and the bottom ½" and press. Section: Diaper bag with a divider « Warehouse Fabrics Inc Blog. Tutorial: Hip Mama Diaper Bag « A Mingled Yarn. This project was frankly inspired by Queen Bee Creations’ diaper bag line. I love the idea of a functional diaper bag that doesn’t look like a diaper bag – and that can also, of course, be used as a regular messenger-style bag if you want.

The bag has a water-resistant vinyl lining to help make cleaning easy – but you can substitute a fabric lining if you want. This bag’s finished dimensions are: 14″ long, 12″ high, 5″ wide, with a 36″ long strap. You can customize the bag by coming up with your own measurements – just remember to add 1″ for seam allowances. Materials 1 1/4 yards cotton (44/45″ wide) for the exterior 1 yard water-resistant vinyl (44/45″ wide) for the lining 1 1/2 yards heavy-weight interfacing (unless you are using heavy-weight fabric for the exterior; if so, skip the interfacing) coordinating thread 12″ coordinating zipper 2 metallic snaps 1/2 yard Velcro 5/8 yard 1/4″ elastic Pattern 1.

A) Strap: 37″ x 5″. 2. 3. Press under 1/2″ on each long side of strap piece (A). 4. 5. Little man diaper clutch tutorial. Boxy bags are simple to make and you can really use them for anything! They would be a great makeup bag or lunch box too. But please pick one purpose for it. We don’t want an old diaper clutch becoming a lunch box… I picked up a beautiful suit for $4 on half price day. Prewash your suit.

Now flip the zipper up and make another sandwich with your remaining two layers, one on each side of the zipper. After you’ve sewn it up, it will look like this: Go ahead and clip the excess fabric back to the zipper. Next step is to sew up the bottom. Now fold you pouch like this. You essentially have a usable pouch right now, but to make it boxy and masculine, fold the corners into triangles like so: The side seam will be right in the middle of the fold. Repeat for all the other corners and then clip them down. That’s all! What would you put in yours? Turn A Wipe Container Into The Best Infant And Toddler Toy.

If you have an infant you know that you could have thousands of dollars worth of blinky, colorful, noisy toys in your home, but your baby would prefer to pull baby wipes out of their container, right? Turn a wipe container into your babies absolute FAVORITE toy. This is the culprit hard at work. An inquisitive 7 month old little girl! Do you have one of these at home? If you have an infant I know that you have picked an entire box of wipes off the floor a time or two. I have been using this trick since my kids were babies. Add colorful fabric remnants to and wipe container to create a toy that they will play with over and over. There is so much about this toy that I love! Your first step is to use up the wipes in a container (that’s easy enough with a baby in the house). Collect pieces of fabric from around the house. If you don’t have fabric laying around just cut up pieces of old t-shirts or towels.

Now that my kids are older they still enjoy this toy. 17 Free Baby Sewing Patterns You'll Adore. <div style="clear:both"></div></div></div> Being a mom is the hardest thing I have ever done, but also the most rewarding experience. Today I’m sharing an essay about the most difficult moment of my daughter’s birth for ABC News and the UN Foundation’s Million Moms Challenge. So I was put on bedrest. Go to Million Moms Challenge to read my essay, and to share your own birth stories. Xoxo. Stuffed Fabric Turtles (with pattern pieces) We were shopping around, down in Florida, after we went to the zoo several weeks ago (yes, in Jacksonville…..some of you asked)……..and we stopped by a Pottery Barn Kids store.

I’m a window shopper. Well, and an inspiration-seeker shopper. I love walking around and daring myself to find something I want to make. Ha. Want to go shopping with me? I might drive you crazy. Then you and my husband will have something in common. While we were there…..we saw some cute little stuffed turtles. So I snapped a picture with my phone, and I decided to try and figure it out at home. So, here’s my version…..a bit different, but just as sweet. They are soft and plump and are perfect for little hands. …..and the tail may be my favorite part. After making one, you better let your turtle explore outside. Would you like to make your own? Turtle pattern pieces found here. Cut out all of your turtle pieces, in whatever fabric and color choices you want.

Then sew each piece closed, about a 1/4 inch from the end. Enjoy. Clothing Book for Kids via TipJunkie.com. Wet Bag Tutorial. When it comes to giving baby gifts, I have made a ton of different things to give away: bibs, leather shoes, clothes, car seat covers, soother (pacifier) straps, and the list goes on and on. I really love sewing for babies! Lately, I have tried to focus my sewing attention, and make just one type of gift for new mums and babies. Something fast, useful, and not too expensive to make.

My project: wet bags. What is a wet bag, you ask? It's a small zippered pouch with a waterproof liner that you can store in your diaper bag, car, or beach bag. My version is the perfect size for just a few wet things, and has a handle for easy carrying. Now, I use cloth diapers with my baby, so obviously I need a wet bag for on-the-go diaper changes.

Like I said, a wet bag makes the perfect gift, for someone else or for yourself. *Update: a kind reader pointed out my error in listing the necessary yardage. With just two yards of vibrant, soft flannel, I was able to make a blanket, bib, and burp cloth. For my most recent post on Making the World Cuter, I made another one of these baby bundle sets. This one was for a friend's little girl. Using a blanket bundle containing Robert Kaufman’s Pretty Paisley Retro Flower Flannel and Riley Blake’s Farm Fresh Brown Polka Dot Flannel--which coordinate beautifully together--I was able to make this baby bundle set...

Tutorial: This Mama’s Fab Travel Chair. This fabric “high chair” is perfect for away from home dining. It’s no 5-point harness, but it helps secure them in the chair. This one was made from an old thrifted, quilted ottoman cover Gather materials: Quilted fabric for outer*, cotton broadcloth or similar for lining, Velcro. *Batting combined with broadcloth can also be used. For this one, I used a thrifted bedspread and bed sheet. Step 1 – Make pattern pieces. All measurements include 3/8″ seam allowance. Step 2 – Add markings 2 1/4″ apart at center of each piece as shown in picture. These markings will help you place the connector piece. Step 3 – Using a single layer of lining and a single layer of quilted fabric, cut each piece out together. Curve the corners of velcro pieces so there are no sharp points. Step 4 – With right sides together, sew connector pieces together along long edges. (3/8″ seam allowance) Step 7 – Turn all pieces right side out and press. Step 8 – Top stitch connector piece 1/4″ from edge along sewn edges.
