One of the winners of the Who's Next Blog competition in the footwear category, Kong Yiu Cheng aka Mister Cheng , graduate of the Artez Institute of Art (The Netherlands) in footwear design in 2011, shown his graduating collection at Mess Around past January. What I really appreciate in this kind of work is the fact that being free from manufacturing contingencies it can explore concepts and materials. And what was interesting for him during the trade show was to present his first models to the professionals of the footwear industry whom I heard were actually interested in his work.
