How to Recover a Lampshade {step by step. Stained Glass Vase. The last house Paul and I rented had a bold red kitchen and serene sage colored living room walls, it rocked our world! Being a military family, we move so much and rent so often that painting walls is totally out of the question. Within a month of moving out of our colorful Florida abode and into our temporary rental home in NC, we were craving color. I fell in love with two canvas paintings that combined neutrals with a pop of vibrant red.

Hellooo Red! Welcome back into my life! Now that we have our accent color picked out, it's time to accessorize! I have a TON of glassware around the house, my collection of boring clear glass everything doubled after the wedding and rehearsal dinner decorations weaseled their way into my closet. First I started with a vase from one of my rehearsal dinner centerpieces. After washing and drying the vase thoroughly, I taped off the inside with blue painter's tape and rolled up a paper towel to block paint from getting on the inside of the vase. Braided headbands. I am STILL growing my hair out and while I have surpassed the really difficult stage, it seems I am always one bad hair day away from shaving my head.

I've done it before and could do it again- once you know how easy it is to have short hair or very little hair, it is SO tempting to go back. That is why having lots of hair accessories on hand is a MUST! A Lantern Makeover. Specifically, a Bunting Lantern.

For some reason, since coming home from the States, I've had a burning desire to get our house in order. I have a few partially completed decorating projects around the place and spent the past week or so getting back into them. The first was this lantern. So I made this big pleated tote, and it worked perfectly. This is a picture of it in action: And here’s a little tutorial in case you want to make one for yourself – doesn’t have to be for the beach either, it could come in handy for schlepping all kinds of things around town. Here’s what you need: two pieces of your main fabric cut in shape A four pieces of the top shape (B) in a contrasting fabric two pieces of a lining fabric in shape C one piece of the long rectangle for the strap in the contrasting fabric two pieces of the top shapes (B) and one of the strap in a medium weight interfacing 1) Along the longest (22″) edge of the main fabric pieces, mark along the top at the following intervals: 3″ – 4″ – 6″ – 7″ – 9″ – 10″ – 12″ – 13″ – 15″ – 16″ – 18″ – 19″ 13) And voila, this is what it should look like.
