A couple weeks ago, I guest posted on Hello Hydrangea, and in return I asked Lindsey to post on my blog! Lindsey and I met in our Photography class and I am constantly amazed at her talents! To introduce herself, I have asked her to answer a few questions: Tell us a little about your blog - I started Hello Hydrangea about a year ago as a way to share the inspirations behind my crafts and projects. I like to showcase different artists or companies that influenced my pieces as well as tie them into the updates of my life.Tell us a little about yourself- I am an advertising and art student at BYU who loves candy way too much for my own good.

Hey Nerd and Healthnut readers! The only materials you need are - covered canvas or foam - sewing pins - sticks, leaves, acorns... things from your backyard As you can see from the top left photo, I covered my canvas with an old gray t-shirt so that the colors of the leaves would pop. I’ve said this before, but one of the best things about Indie Craft Parade is getting to know the awesome people in the crafty community.

Making these connections can provide new friendships, networking connections, business opportunities, and they always supply creative inspiration. So for today’s post, I called in one of the amazing connections I’ve made—the ever lovely Emily Jeffords of Beautiful Hello Blog. Besides being a blogger, Emily is also a fine artist, graphic designer, and jewelry maker (not to mention a mom of two little girls). I’ve actually known Emily since before Indie Craft Parade, but in the last year or so, she’s turned her self into a full-time creative venture. For a guest post, I asked Emily to supply a DIY project for us…and she did something awesome: DIY CHALKBOARD LETTERING. So without further ado, take it away, Emily! Hello! Oh, and lefties, you’re in luck. This chalkboard DIY is so stylish, so trendy, and so, so easy.

Things I leaned during this DIY: 1. Framed Chalkboard Tutorial (and tips for writing on it!) Ladies, it is officially the holiday season!! I took a last-minute trip to the store for a bag of candy on Halloween and, to my surprise, I found a teeny tiny section for Halloween, and 8 AISLES for Christmas!! Can it really be the Christmas season already?! I have been dying to do this little project and share it with all of you.

Chalkboards are so much fun. The first step is finding a frame. You will need a board which will become your chalkboard. Chalkboard paint is something I haven’t had a lot of experience with, but I will say I prefer the spray paint version for a perfectly even and smooth surface. Here is a shortened version of the supplies you will need: A Frame A sheet of MDF, cut to size Chalkboard Spray Paint Staple Gun This would be an easy bulk Christmas project to do. Spray in layers. The paint needs to dry completely. Staple across the frame and board to secure it. My frame didn’t have any hardware for it to hang from.

The chalkboard frame is done! Like This Post? Dear Lizzy. Crafting Classes, Patterns & Inspiration | Craftsy: Learn It. Make It. {give great gifts} Quick and Easy Book Totes and Printable! Voila! Love this post? How to-sday . make your own stamps. Since my tutorials are definitely the most popular section of the blog, I've begun to go back through old ones to revamp them, fix the pictures here and there, and add any new tips and tricks I've learned over the last few years.

I won't be updating them all at once, but when I fix them, I'll be sure to let you guys know! This one, my rubber stamping tutorial, is fun, easy, and a lasting favorite of mine! Stamps are great for personalizing everything, from your Etsy shop packaging to holiday gifts for friends and family, but they're expensive at craft stores! Carving your own stamps makes it easy to get exactly the look you want, plus you can avoid the high prices of premade stamps.

They're fun to freehand if you're at all artistic, but it's just as easy to trace an existing design, like I did with the woodgrain pattern stamp I carved. I honestly don't have a ton of earrings here in Korea, but recently I purchased a few pairs and they have been very unhappily clumped in a teeny weeny zipper bag. They don't like me very much for this - so I have decided to give them a place where they can dangle freely. This is just a basic tutorial to show you what I did - I hope that this will inspire you to draw your own design and make something amazing. If you would prefer to use my drawing then you can get the template here :) What you will need: A base piece of fabric - the size depends on the size of your embroidery ring. (my ring is only 15.5cm in diameter because I don't have many earrings) A template/ drawing of a design fabric scraps (cotton/felt) embroidery thread Before you start make sure that your picture is smaller than your embroidery ring (seems like a silly instruction but its a mistake that you don't want to make :) Iron the fabric on to the iron-on adhesive, trace/copy your pieces and cut them out.

Have fun. How to Make a Cute Camera Case. DIY Geometric Necklace. I found some really fun geometric necklaces on craftgawker, but they were made out of paper/paint chips. I kinda laughed at the idea because "Paper is way too flimsy to wear. " Right? I kept seeing more and more of them being posted and then I finally decided "Why not try it? " (They were very cute.) So I pulled out some paper, glue, and a little nail polish. Since I wasn't using paint chips, which naturally have a sheen, I painted on some clear nail polish. It not only gives it a shine, but protects the paper. Very quick and super easy. Draw a "V" on the corner of a sheet of paper. 2. 3. 4.
