More Christmas Crafts: Advent Calendar Project – Week 9. (Every week until December 1st we will be making a small Christmas ornament that can be used in our Pocket Advent Calendar.

Join us in making all 24 or just pick and choose your favorites.) Often on Scandinavian Christmas ornaments Santa or tomtes are shown as just a beard, nose and large hat. This week’s ornament is based on that look. This ornament is so easy, you could whip out a bunch of them for gifts or to decorate packages in an afternoon. Kids love to make pom poms, so this would be a fun one to do with them too.

Paper Towel Stars. Talk about simple upcycling! Slice up a paper towel or toilet paper roll and you’ve got yourself a glittery, star ornament! Glittery Santa’s Belly Jar. My original intention was to create Christmas luminary jars with this design. However, I’ve decided to use these to hold candy canes instead. :) Turns out that jars covered in glitter just don’t light up as nice as I had hoped.

See? On their own they sure are pretty though, especially in the sunlight! See that sparkle in that top pic and this one here? Do you have any idea how hard it is to take a photograph of something sparkly? Next to impossible. Out of probably 30 shots, I got TWO with sparkle. Above is a VIDEO of the sparkle effect – it’s worth the 7 seconds it takes to watch it, so click “play”! Recently Martha Stewart glitter went on sale at Michael’s.

The glitter is a little pricey, but if you use a 40% Michael’s or other craft store coupon or get it on sale you can get a good deal. If you would like to make some glittery Santa’s belly jars of your own… You will need mason jar(s) masking tape Mod Podge or white craft glue paintbrush Martha’s glitter (black, red, gold, white) Santa Chimney Place Setting. A festive robot • happy dappy bits blog. This is the second installment of my second installment robot designs! Now that Halloween is over (so sad!) , I’m back on track with holiday goodies. :) My birthday was this past weekend and one of the presents I received was a package of awesome handcrafted eco-friendly colored pencils from Nepal (pics to come, and I haven’t forgotten about pics of my office either…those are coming soon too!). The pencils inspired me to create a holiday version of the robot. :) I love making the robots on light brown recycled paper and I had the idea of putting a santa hat on him. I used the white colored pencil to really make the “furry” parts pop. And, of course, once I added the santa hat, there were no restraints on the level of festiveness! Who knew a pencil could inspire an entire design? You can purchase this card here. © 2011 Happy Dappy Bits LLC. Santa’s Belly Treat Cups. These fun little treat containers would be perfect for the “little kids’ table”.

You know the one. That table you had to sit at when you were 11, surrounded by silly 6 and 7 year old cousins, still not allowed to sit at the grown up table. I digress. Imagine these cute little Santa cups filled with crayons, peppermint sticks or even plastic silverware. So many possibilities! I made these treat cups this week for Craftown.com.

I used DecoArt’s cool Glamour Dust ultra fine glitter paint in Sizzling Red to add a little bit of razzle to these cups. I also used DecoArt Snow-Tex snow texture paint in this project.
