The SoHo Maxi Dress Tutorial

Anna is one of my very favorite blogging friends, and I’m thrilled that she asked me to be a part of her Sewing With Knits Mondays series. I hope you’ve been following along each Monday on Anna’s blog and also Shannon from Luv In The Mommyhood’s blog - they have both shared some great tips and had some super guests joining in. No reason to be afraid of knits anymore, ladies! When Anna contacted me, I knew instantly what project I’d be sharing. I’ve been wanting to make a maxi dress tutorial for months now, but I guess I just didn’t have the right motivation I needed to get it done. With a ruffle detail at the top… The SoHo Maxi Dress is perfect for even a beginner sewer.

Piranha Plant earrings have the appearance of having quite the grip on the ear. Heart Earrings from a Paper Clip. Since getting my ears pierced, I’ve started looking for ways I can add to my earring collection without breaking the bank.

Heart Earrings from a Paper Clip

When I saw Evie S’s earrings I knew I had to make my own version…heart shaped earrings from a paper clip. These are perfect for Valentine’s Day coming up or just for a fun accessory on a random day :) The best part of these earrings? They are made from a paper clip and thread…things almost everyone has lying around! Just take your paperclips, unfold them, trim the longer end and shape the paperclips into hearts… Take a long piece of thread (as in like 3 feet long) and lay the end across where the two ends of the paper clip meet.

Once dry, wrap your thread around the paper clip…and around, and around and around…you get the point. I took some Mod Podge and “painted it” around the paper clip to keep all of the random threads in place especially since my boys love touching my earrings. A Baby Tutu Tutorial. The Baby in a tutu.

A Baby Tutu Tutorial

We’ve all seen the pictures. A tutu is quickly becoming the most popular photo prop for newborn pictures. And there’s a good reason for that… it’s super cute!! Today, I decided to make TNB her very own tutu. I was surprised at how much I learned while I made the tutu, so I figured a quick tutorial would be a good idea! What you need: Tulle – I bought a roll of tulle at Micheal’s ($2.99)Elastic – I got thin, 3/4″ elastic – if you’re making it for a toddler or child I’d suggest you get something thicker. ($0.87)Ribbon – get s matching color, but not the SAME color ($1.00)Accent Ribbon – optional – I got a yard and had WAY too much ($0.92) How to make a tutu: First, you’ll want to cut your elastic. And then? You’ll also want to cut your ribbon. When deciding how many layers of tulle to use, remember that less is more. Ta Da!! Cute right?? How to make a Mini Tube Dress. Make a Ringlet T-shirt Scarf for Fall

There’s no sewing involved (hallelujah!) , and you can make it while sitting in front of the TV in less time than it takes to watch a really good, trashy show on E. Since I have an abundance of orange and blue Auburn shirts (and we go to a lot of the crisp, fall football games) I decided to go with Auburn colors. This scarf goes together so fast and is basically free to make – it’s perfect to wear in support of your favorite team! :) The best part about this cute scarf is that the only supplies you need to make it are a few old tshirts and a pair of scissors.

So grab a few tees in your favorite colors and start by cutting off the hem. Then cut the shirts into strips about 3/4″ wide. Give the loops a nice big stretch. And wrap them around you hand. …31 more times. Now take those hems and cut them into strips about 5″ long. Into one long chain. Boden Boulevard Necklace Knockoff & Flamingo Toes - StumbleUpon.
