Guess where your fluoride comes from? China! (Build 20100722155716) (NaturalNews) Much of the fluoride added to municipal water supplies across the United States is imported from China, and is contaminated with heavy metals, according to a warning by Bernard Miltenberger, president of the Pure Water Committee of Western Maryland.

In a letter published in the Cumberland Times-News, Miltenberger notes that he first became aware of the issue in an engineering report for the city of Boulder, Colo. The report noted that the fluoridation chemicals used for the city's water had been evaluated, and were found to contain lead levels of 40 milligrams per bag and arsenic levels of 50 milligrams per bag. The bags were being imported from China under no regulatory monitoring of acid or salt content. Miltenberger then visited the Frostburg Water Filtration Plant in Maryland and noticed that the fluoride bags were not labeled with any importation information.

He contacted the plant's chemical supplier, Univar USA, and was then referred to Sovay fluorides. Plans for fluoride 'in all water' Ministers are planning to allow fluoride to be added to all drinking water in England and Wales it is being reported.

The move is being considered to help reduce tooth decay among children in "deprived" areas, according to The Sunday Times. Such a measure would prove controversial as critics fear fluoride could be linked to increased risks of cancer, hip fractures, kidney trouble and birth defects. But the government has previously insisted there is no evidence to support claims of health risks from adding chemicals to drinking water. Only about 11% of the population currently receive fluoridated water. Health authorities may get powers to increase fluoridation in drinking water rather than water companies under amendments to the Water Bill later this month, according to the paper. 'Second Thoughts about Fluoride,' Reports Scientific American. Fluoride water 'causes cancer'

Fluoride in tap water can cause bone cancer in boys, a disturbing new study indicates, although there is no evidence of a link for girls.

Fluoride water 'causes cancer'

New American research suggests that boys exposed to fluoride between the ages of five and 10 will suffer an increased rate of osteosarcoma - bone cancer - bet-ween the ages of 10 and 19. In the UK, fluoride is added to tap water on the advice of bodies such as the British Dental Association. The Department of Health maintains that it is a cost-effective public health measure that helps prevent tooth decay in children.
