The Pinhole Camera - A Practical How-To Book For Making Pinhole Cameras and Images

PINHOLE.LT

http://www.pinhole.lt/en/ The basis of pinhole photography is property of light that inverts the outside view in the dark room when it travels through a small hole in the opposite wall. It is known from Aristotelian and Euclidean times and was extensively used by first astronomers and painters, and later it laid a cornerstone in photography and cinema, after Johannes Niepce discovered the method of chemical registration of image produced by camera obscura . Archaic technology combined with conceptual expression reflects the topicality of modern photography: see things different and use own and unique methods of expression . Our authors use almost primitive camera construction - make them from coffee, tea tins or snuff boxes; even a briefcase serves as a camera. They drill a little hole on one side and put light sensitive material on another, decline all conveniences that are available today: sharp lens, fast shutters, flashes and frame rates.

Zero Image-Pinhole Photography Technique

We recieved many inquiries from our customers asking about how to frame the image and the available of a viewfinder. Before, we didn't deisgn any viewfinder for our camera as in my opinion, we take pinhole photo, we have to back to the basic, and I used to take pinhole images without the viewfinder. It is human's ability that we can know what can be included in the frame if we willing to train up ourself. Just like some serious photographer who can know the exact exposure setting of f/stop and exposure time without the use of a light meter. You can also train up yourself if you can pay more attention to the result of your frame and after a few period of time, you can become the expert without the need of a viewfinder. http://www.zeroimage.com/web2003/Technique/Viewfinder/viewfinder.htm

Re-tensioning the springs was the easiest, but I don't think it made much difference as they were already applying a fair bit of tension to the film. Next were spacers on the spool shafts which made the wind-on stiffer and so created more drag. This produced a slight improvement.

The Pinhole Gallery

" When I first saw photographs taken with a pinhole camera I was hooked. I loved the ethereal & impressionistic images with a soft dreamy quality, a wide angle of view & incredible depth of field. My pinhole photography started as a bit of fun, an experimentation to see what I could do with a pinhole camera in the landscape - it wasn't driven by any commercial considerations; it was motivated by my interest in exploring different creative approaches to photography as a way of keeping my vision fresh of challenging myself to try out new things (techniques, equipment, subjects etc)

Monthly Pinhole (Lensless) Photographer Features Chris Keeney Photography has been creating monthly features on pinhole photographers / artists from around the world since September of 2007. I like to feature artists that I feel celebrate the art of pinhole photography through their photos. I am determining if I will continue this series from this point forward. If you find these features interesting and think I should continue, please leave me a comment below.
