333-333-333 Records JUNICHI WATANABE Blog : WAVES -THE API COLLECTION- が凄い。 先日、マスタリングスタジオで初めて使わせてもらった、WAVES THE API COLLECTIONに痛く感動したので、その勢いで購入した。
API COLLECTIONとは、1960年代に設立された音響機器メーカー「API」のEQとコンプレッサーを ソフトウェアでシミュレートしたプラグイン集の事で、EQが3種、コンプが1種バンドルされている。 APIというメーカー自体、SSLやNEVE等と並ぶ老舗ブランドで、 出音が個性的な事も相まって1960年代から現代に到るまで数多くのレコーディングで活躍されてきたブランド。 で、APIのどの部分が具体的に素晴らしいと感じたかというところだが、 ・ 微妙な差ではあるが、インサートするだけでエッジが立つ ・550Bで40Hzを軽く持ち上げるだけで曲全体の倍音成分が増強され、聴感上音量が増す。 ・EQ、コンプ共にアナログ特有のコンプレッション（飽和感）が付加される。 マスタリング時は550Bのみの使用だったが、たった一個の効果で「すげぇ！！」 そこで、ドラムサンプルを使って検証してみた。 エンジニアさんや、ビンテージ機器に精通した方々にとっては「何を今更」とお思いだろうが、 APIのプラグインに感動し、ましてや実際のAPIなんて触った事の無い僕にとっては非常に新鮮な経験だった。 で、検証。 【検証0：何もインサートしない状態で鳴らす】 こんな感じのドラムパターン。
【検証1：4バンドイコライザー550 Bをインサートした状態】セッティングは、インサートしただけの状態。 検証：1の音質 微妙な差ではあるがインサートしただけで音の質感（エッジ、ボトム）が 変化したのが分かると思う。 【検証2：コンプレッサー2500をインサートした状態】インサートしただけでは、コンプレッションがかかってしまうので、 ゲインリダクションは極限まで振れさせない状態で検証。 検証：2の音質. WAVES 『API Collection』 - マサシのブログ(笑) こんにちは。
