30 Original Alternatives to a Common Bedside Table. Three Wall House by Kovac Architects. Dreamy Rooftop Apartment Overlooking Bondi Beach. Apr 11 A beautiful rooftop apartment rises on one of the streets of Sydney, Australia. Curiously remodeling the appearance of the building it stands on, the Bondi Penthouse overlooks Bondi Bay and beach and borrows its name. Spread over 180 square meters, this creation of MPR Design Group displays a highly modern design. Adorning the rooftop of an Art Deco building, the lightweight metal clad structure benefits from plenty of natural light coming from a mixture of skylights and windows. Life in a Glass Bubble: Modern Spanish Penthouse Remodel. Apr 06 In the southern Spanish city of Murcia, ancient buildings line the streets and add a particular type of character to the locale. One home in particular embraces the centuries-old charm on the street level but goes for the futuristic look up top. Clavel Arquitectos were called in to rehab an existing attic and turn it into a stylish penthouse-style art gallery/living space addition.

But what would a project like this be without some strict regulations or unusual challenges to get around? The building was under strict regulations that made it impossible to modify the positions of the attic’s exterior walls. Working only within the space already defined, the architects designed a futuristic, open structure with a lush exterior green wall. Each “bubble” is a separate chamber with a specific function – living, sleeping, dining – and the space between them keeps things light. Architects wrote about this project: This home has been designed for a client who wished to build his home next to his farm. The design combines some of the utilitarian images of the agriculture buildings in that area with the fascination to the ‘beams’ construction of a ‘country home’.

The house is divided in three parallel strips: private, semi private and public. By doing so, the possibility exists to have the one (living) part with the (northern) light open to the yard and the view. The pirvate (southern) part is closed by concrete walls. Between the public and semi public spaces stands a thick wall which contains the utilities such as the air conditioning system, storage spaces, toilets, etc. The beams of the roof rests on that ‘central concrete wall’ and candeliver to the living area.

Limestone rocks sticking out between the banks and trees in the park gave us the key to design and resolve the complex functional and circulation program: use of simultaneous game day sports use, use of court by the neighbors, access to players, officials, public premises for a possible lookout restaurant, sports center with a separate entrance but with access to track so that residents can use the court when there is no match, parking connected to both spaces, etc … The Bilbao Arena was designed as a tree, tree-pillars that brace the elements in the metal structure façade and painted steel sheets in various colors to build an air-permeable end that hides all the machines in room climate. via plusmood.com Similar Posts:

Apr 03 The top floor of this periscope-like wooden house in Stavanger, Norway, cantilevers northwards towards the sea. Oslo architects Element renovated the 40-year-old house in 2010, choosing to reconfigure the existing two lower storeys and to completely replace the original upper floor. A long window stretches across the entire width of the cantilever to provide a view across the water from the new open-plan living and dining room.

Residents enter the house at this level, while the floors below step down in tandem with the steeply declining hillside. Here’s some more information from Element: The existing house was built in 1969 as a “twin” to the neighbouring building.
