PostGIS : Home. Spatial Analysis Online - Free Softwares (pdf) QGIS Labs. QGIS Tutorial Labs Home This is a set of tutorial labs for Quantum GIS, an open source geographic information system.
The labs are based loosely on labs in my course ABT 180. They were developed with the help of the following students: Alex Mandel, Dylan Beaudette, Michele Tobias, Xuyang Zhang, Stacey Ellis, Heidi Schott, Michael Treichler, Melissa Whitaker, Kelly Gravuer, Michael Louie, Joel Bremson, Lauren Poremsky, Siqi Fajn, and Cherry Zamora. Thanks especially to Alex Mandel and Michele Tobias for organizing a seminars to review the labs. The labs are based on QGIS version 1.7.3 (last updated 5/1/2012). I would appreciate hearing comments and suggestions. The labs make use of the following data sets: Field 5 (this is a wheat field located in Central California) Brown's Pond (this is a data set first used in Geographic Information Systems and Cartographic Modeling by C.
After completing this tutorial, you will have a database of locations and a webpage that lets a user enter their address and see markers on a map for the locations nearest to them, within a chosen distance restriction. Since the Maps API v3 is designed to work well on modern mobile browsers, this article will show how to create a website that displays nicely on them. The tutorial is broken up into the following steps: Creating the Table When you create the MySQL table, you want to pay particular attention to the lat and lng attributes.
Note: This tutorial uses location data that already have latitude and longitude information needed to plot corresponding markers. If you prefer interacting with your database through the phpMyAdmin interface, here's a screenshot of the table creation. <? <? Dotspotting - Welcome! GeoCommons. Mapping geoJSON files on GitHub. GitHub.com supports rendering geoJSON and topoJSON map files within GitHub repositories.
Simply commit the file as you would normally using a .geojson, .topojson, or .json extension. Then, navigate to the path of the geoJSON file on GitHub.com. Geometry Types Maps on GitHub.com use Leaflet.js and support all the geometry types outlined in the geoJSON spec (Point, LineString, Polygon, MultiPoint, MultiLineString, MultiPolygon, and GeometryCollection). TopoJSON files should be type "Topology" and adhere to the topoJSON spec. Styling features You can customize the way features are displayed, such as specifying a particular color or adding a descriptive icon, by passing additional metadata within the geoJSON object's properties.
See version 1.1.0 of the open simplestyle spec for more information. Mapbox. Mapshaper. DataMaps.
