Rankings are a popular and universal approach to structuring otherwise unorganized collections of items by computing a rank for each item based on the value of one or more of its attributes.

LineUp

This allows us, for example, to prioritize tasks or to evaluate the performance of products relative to each other. While the visualization of a ranking itself is straightforward, its interpretation is not, because the rank of an item represents only a summary of a potentially complicated relationship between its attributes and those of the other items. It is also common that alternative rankings exist which need to be compared and analyzed to gain insight into how multiple heterogeneous attributes affect the rankings.

Advanced visual exploration tools are needed to make this process efficient. Graphl. Overview Graphl1 is a tool for collaborative editing and visualisation of graphs, representing relationships between resources or concepts of the real world.

graphl

Graphl may be thought of as a visual wiki, a place where everybody can contribute to a shared repository of knowledge. Graphl builds upon RDF (the Resource Description Format), a standard for expressing the relationships of resources. While RDF specifies how to express these relationships in terms of concepts and grammar rules, Graphl focusses on visualizing these (possibly complex) networks of relationships, and allows the visual editing of such networks. While RDF was created mainly as a standard to support the machine-processability of relationship data, Graphl allows human users to interact with this kind of data in an intuitive way, by providing sophisticated rendering methods that allow users to explore even complex graphs and networks without visual overload. SDK. The Thinkmap SDK enables organizations to incorporate data-driven visualization technology into their enterprise Web applications.

SDK

Thinkmap applications allow users to make sense of complex information in ways that traditional interfaces are incapable of. The Thinkmap SDK (v. 2.8) includes a set of out-of-the-box configurations for solving common visualization problems, as well as new visualization techniques for customizing data displays. We have designed Thinkmap to be lightweight, fast, easily extensible, and able to connect seamlessly to a wide variety of data sources. Thinkmap is composed of two primary components: an extremely lightweight and fast browser-based Visualization Component that renders the visualizations and allows for interactive exploration a Data Source API that enables connection to many different types of data sources.

VisIt

From Unix, Windows or Mac workstations, users can interactively visualize and analyze data ranging in scale from small (<101 core) desktop-sized projects to large (>105 core) leadership-class computing facility simulation campaigns. Users can quickly generate visualizations, animate them through time, manipulate them with a. Gephi - The Open Graph Viz Platform. JavaScript InfoVis Toolkit.

Vidi. Protovis. Protovis composes custom views of data with simple marks such as bars and dots.

Protovis

Unlike low-level graphics libraries that quickly become tedious for visualization, Protovis defines marks through dynamic properties that encode data, allowing inheritance, scales and layouts to simplify construction. Protovis is free and open-source, provided under the BSD License. It uses JavaScript and SVG for web-native visualizations; no plugin required (though you will need a modern web browser)!

Although programming experience is helpful, Protovis is mostly declarative and designed to be learned by example. Protovis is no longer under active development. The final release of Protovis was v3.3.1 (4.7 MB). This project was led by Mike Bostock and Jeff Heer of the Stanford Visualization Group, with significant help from Vadim Ogievetsky. Updates. Data Wrangler.
