“En la arquitectura hace falta menos ego y más miedo” Con 81 años, la arquitecta y urbanista Denise Scott Brown (Nkana, Zambia, 1931), crecida en Johanesburgo, formada en Roma y Londres y afincada en Filadelfia, ha viajado recientemente a México, donde la entrevistamos, para presentar la primera edición en español de su libro Armada de palabras (Arquine).

En 1991, cuando su socio y marido, el arquitecto Robert Venturi, viajó al DF a recoger el prestigioso Premio Pritzker, ella no lo acompañó. Entendió que ese galardón debía haber sido también para ella, porque hacía 26 años que firmaban conjuntamente sus edificios y eran las ideas de Scott Brown sobre la importancia de lo ordinario –hoy recuperadas en el currícu­lo académico de universidades como Columbia– las que armaron algunos de sus libros míticos como Aprendiendo de Las Vegas.

En las últimas semanas, una petición promovida por estudiantes graduadas de Harvard en change.org para que Scott Brown comparta el Pritzker de su marido lleva acumuladas más de 5.000 firmas. P: ¿Por eso se fue?

Over the past 4 months, the winning designers Christine Yogiaman and Ken Tracy have further developed their proposal in collaboration with TEX-FAB, and now Cast Thicket is complete and installed in the University of Texas at Arlington’s School of Architecture Gallery.
