VIDEO: Missing Cubes Optical Illusion. 3D Drawings That Jump Off The Page. I could’ve sworn I already covered Ramon Bruin’s hyperrealistic pencil drawings at some point in the past, when our fan Melanie contacted me and pointed this was not the case. As said earlier, artist Ramon Bruin is taking hyperrealistic drawings to a whole new dimension – The third dimension, to be more precise! Ramon who is a Dutch illustrator, creates realistic 3D renderings of snakes, birds, and all sort of creepy creatures using nothing but a pencil, paper and his own imagination. Those impressive cartoons you see below seem to jump off the paper right at you! The technique in use is once again #Anamorphosis.
Bruin uses a technique called anamorphosis, which involves drawing a detailed but distorted image that appears like a 3D scene when viewed from a certain angle – The New York Daily News To add a bit of drama, Ramon inserts hands, pencils and other props into the photographs of his illustrations, effectively improving the 3D effect. Two Face Optical Illusion. Sorry guys for me being absent for the last two days. I just hope this illusion Sandile found will make it up for the gap. If you concentrate on the photo our South African fan shared, one I have attached to the right of this article, you will see what appears to be fused frontal/profile headshot of a young man. Now if you observe this very same image with your palm covering first left, and then right side of his face, you will end up with some pretty confusing results.
I’ve created a mockup below just to make it easier for you to see both frontal and sideway view. Even though we had something similar posted here before, I still have trouble figuring these kind of illusions. Unfortunately, Sandile didn’t provide us with info on the artist behind this, so if you have any clues be sure to share them inside your comments.

Have to say I was a bit disappointed when I saw you recent comments regarding my previous post shameless plugin. I have to admit I should’ve been more careful in which way I was going to share the #news I was so proud of. Perhaps you’re right – even if this is my blog about illusions, the only reason it became so successful and popular is because of you guys. I should’ve respected this a bit more, I guess. On the other hand, later some of you recognized that the topic of the app (religion) wasn’t as important as the technical achievement me and my friend were so proud of. I thank you for recognizing that and defending my announcement.
Anyway, for those who are interested if it worked, I’m proud to say our first iPhone application took of with a success! It was even number one app in some stores around the world for a moment or two.
