DIY Instructions: Fabric: preferably a knit. 2 yards. Measure from your hip bone to the floor and add 5 inches to that for the length. I just had enough left over from my Nautical Dress to whip this baby out. I decided to make the waistband on this skirt stretchy. It is just nice to be able to pull it on with a shirt and go. The beautiful gem necklace was handmade from Saressa. 1) Cut fabric to desired length. 2) Pleat by sewing folds back and forth evenly along the waistline like this. 3) Once folds are all sewn along waistline, sew elastic band right sides together with pleated skirt. 4) Sew the back seam up. The Man Repeller usually knows how to man repel, but this sweet as sugar skirt is so versatile it can be incorporated into repeller looks and come-hither ones too. The tutu-like skirt is made by Miu Miu and plays on the recent simple-stitch trends of Miuccia Prada. This pattern is one of the easiest to make yourself if you have a sewing machine- it is an absolute beginner level piece. It's a very, very simple project and perfect for a beginner seamstress. Materials Needed 1 yd or 1 and 2/3 yd of Fabric (explained below)1.5" wide elasticCoordinating thread color Fabric- I found this yellow damask stretchy knit fabric for just 3.99 a yard at Golden D'or in Dallas. For this project I would recommend using a knit, voile, silk, charmeuse, or any other soft fabric. Pin around the perimeter to keep fabric in place.
Died Maxi Skirt. Folded Miniskirt. Difficulty: Intermediate. It's based on the Drapedrape dress no 7, and it has the same 'what am I looking at here' feel to it. At one point you'll think, 'what a mess' and then it just clicks and you have a beautiful skirt. This click does not seem to happen with everyone, showing from the comments. If you're not sure about it: wait for the pattern! Fabric: One meter/yard is more than enough. Tools: Nothing fancy, just pins, maybe chalk, ruler, scissors. Step 1: Pattern pieces & measurements The pattern pieces for this skirt are so easy, you can draw your own right on the fabric. 1) front I used my measurements as an example: 100 cm. 2) back The width of the back will then be ([measurement]/2)-10, which is 40 cm for me. 3) lining The lining will have the same width as the front piece (60 for me), but half of the length, which is 33,5.
