I promise this will be my last time using blue and white striped fabric for a while. http://www.elleapparelblog.com/2010/09/socialite-skirt.html

The Socialite Skirt

http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/american-apparel-style-skirt It's time to gather the skirt. You can gather by sewing 2 rows of stitches close together on the longest stitch length on your machine along top of each rectangle.

This has been such an exciting last few days for me. My Shoe Makeover Tutoria l was actually featured on one of my favorite blogs Ucreate and I feel so honored to be amongst the talented ladies that Kari has displayed on her lovely blog. Thank you so much for all your sweet comments, I absolutely love reading them and I'm so happy that many of you are inspired to take on the project! I'm really hoping to get more clothing tutorials up soon as creating clothes for myself is really becoming a passion of mine. I thought this one would be a good one to start with. It's a very, very simple project and perfect for a beginner seamstress.

Folded Miniskirt

Difficulty: Intermediate. It's based on the Drapedrape dress no 7, and it has the same 'what am I looking at here' feel to it. At one point you'll think, 'what a mess' and then it just clicks and you have a beautiful skirt.

Draped Skirt

http://www.patternrunway.com/2011/03/draped-knit-skirt-pattern.html Having seen so much beautiful draping around the last couple of seasons, especially in lightweight knits, I made this draped skirt pdf pattern . I wanted a skirt that was gathered at both side-seams, a snug fit and an elastic waist for easy wearing. Due to the stretch fabric, its also very comfortable to wear.
This is actually a really easy DIY if you know how to use a sewing machine. Were it not for the blog documentation, it probably would have only taken about 30minutes. If you're really adventurous, use the sleeves from the t-shirt to make pockets -hidden or just stitched to the front like this American Apparel version . I also thought about using the extra material to create flower details, either around the bottom or just randomly placed ...but ultimately kept it simple because it just felt so easy and sporty ...but that doesn't mean I won't add to it in the future {which is why I save all left-over textiles} just. in. case. :) http://www.lovemaegan.com/2009/09/recycle-your-clothes-diy-jersey-mini.html

Jersey Mini Sport Skirt

http://apairandasparediy.com/2011/01/diy-weekly-sheer-black-maxi-skirt.html 23rd January 2011 I recently did a second DIY using the simple maxi tutorial I used for the Jil Sander one here.

Here is that tutorial I promised - I forgot to mention that I technically "upcycled" this skirt from unwanted fabric (which I wanted, duh). Do you know the difference between upcycling and refashioning? Well, there isn't much of a difference! Upcycling is when you turn unused stuff, or junk to something useable, while refashioning is when you take something and transform it into something else. In another words...it is just a more awesome new way to say refashioning.

Polka Dot Pintuck Skirt

Supplies -Around 2 yards of fabric (if you want it less big then mine, then so less fabric) *make sure it is a more flowy or light weight/thin fabric because if it is heavy or stiff it will be very hard to gather or it will be way too fluffy looking. *optional - lining fabric or buy extra to add underneath. I just wore a slip -sewing machine
