Did you know...that you can make new earrings with a button and a paperclip? True story! I've been trying to think of a way for us to make some earrings without having to buy supplies. Buying the beads and all the findings can really add up. :o( Sad. But-oh, what? That still leaves the findings. Clip the top of the paperclip off with wire cutters: Snap off the button shanks: Glue the paperclip to the back of the button.
Open the loop at the bottom of your earring hook by bending it outward and hook it onto your paper clip. And...pretty new earrings! Walmart was out of gold sparkly ones (I like gold.) but here are some cute ones I found on Walmart.com(about $1-$2): And some cute ones on Etsy: This Etsy shop has infinity cute buttons, you have to see it. Peacock Feather Earrings.
I posted some pictures of peacock feather earrings I made a while back. I thought I would do a tutorial for how to make them so if any of you are up for a fun summer jewelry project. I saw these a while back at Anthropologie for 40.00 or so. They only cost a couple of dollars to make which is more in my price range. Materials Needed: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. You should be able to find all of these supplies at your local bead or craft store. To start, select two feathers that have the same eye shape and color. Once you have chosen your feathers strip the feathers until they are the width you want your earrings to be. Once they look like the above picture trim the stem down to a quarter of an inch long. Place the feathers face down into the fold over crimp ends so that once you have folded down both sides of the crimp end, the flat side will be in the front. Carefully with your pliers fold down each side of the crimp end so that it firmly holds the feather.
…and like this from the top. Fabric Button Earrings. I love the idea of using fabric buttons to decorate mundane things. This tutorial is for making fabric button earrings, but you could make fabric button magnets or push pins. I got this idea from this website. After you buy the basic supplies you can make tons of these. I gave a couple pairs out for Christmas and they loved them! Ingredients:Button Blanks ~ I found them at my local craft store but you could also find them at Joann's. After you buy the button blank original set you can just buy the refills. They come in several sizes. Gather supplies. There are instructions on the back of the pack: On the back there is a button pattern. Now take the button backs and remove the wire.
Now follow my pictures to figure out what to do... Push down {into the hole} Fold fabric in. Push the finished button out of the white thing! To attach the earring backs use hot glue. I made a couple :) ∆DIY∆ Ear Wrap. This post is having technically difficulties. See a similar post here. Things you need for this DIY: *17 inches of wire *some chain *cruelty-free feathers (if you can't find cruelty-free, skip the feathers) *pliers *a needle Total time: 30 mins Total cost: $4 (excluding pliers) These ear wraps have been popping up all over the place and I love how they look.
I'm allergic to most metals which really limits my earring wearing options so I figured I needed a few of these. I took the 17 inch long piece of wire and bent the end over about three inches (enough length to wrap around my ear). I bent it to the right shape. Then I bent the rest of the wire back towards the hook and wrapped it around itself making little loops. Finished. Then I poked a hole through the stem of the feather with my needle.
I threaded the wire through... ...and wrapped it around. I added a bunch of chain and that was it! Super easy. Don't have the time to DIY? Enjoy! ☩DIY☩ Pearl Ear Hook/Ear Wrap.
