From 1984 to 1989, everyone in downtown New York wanted to be John Lurie. Or sleep with him. Or punch him in the face.
.O.rang (or 'O'rang ) is a band led by Lee Harris and Paul Webb , formerly of Talk Talk . The group's first album, Herd of Instinct (1994), was recorded similarly to Talk Talk's later albums: guest musicians played hours of improvisational material, then the performances were edited down and pieced together. However, in contrast to Talk Talk, the song structures were not planned before being recorded. Paul Webb explained, "it was recorded before it was written." [ 1 ] Fields and Waves (1996), after experiencing several false starts, was recorded with more control. [ 2 ]

pj harvey: let england shake, vidéos/seamus murphy
This was the first album that we recorded in our own Wooden Horse Studio, just after our relocation to Hamburg. It also marked the return of Andy Booth to the fold, after an absence of a couple of years while he was learning to be a music biz lawyer. We had always wanted to make a sort of big budget pop album but basically never had a big budget to do it with, but on WAS we tried to do something like it anyway. I had also just gone through a rather traumatic romantic relationship, as I think is obvious from the song lyrics. This is in many ways the most honest of all the CX albums, although in many ways it’s also the most flawed. The songs are wonderful, but I cringe when I hear the production, I really wish I could do it all again.

Dr Dee: An English Opera
Damon's new album, Dr Dee, is out now Dr Dee is 18 tracks of songs and music inspired by the life of John Dee, mathematician, polymath and advisor to Elizabeth I. Described by Albarn as ‘strange pastoral folk’, Dr Dee is a fitting companion to the end of another Elizabethan age. The album combines Albarn's voice with early English choral and instrumentation alongside modern, West African and Renaissance sounds. Dr Dee was recorded late last year in Albarn’s West London studio and also in Salford with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. The album was mixed by Valgeir Sigursson in Reykjavik.
Low (Band)
Low Low ist eine US-amerikanische Band aus Duluth , Minnesota . Sie spielt seit 1993 langsame bis sehr langsame Independent -Musik. Die Band gilt als einer der Vorreiter des Subgenres Slowcore [1] , auch wenn sie selbst diese Bezeichnung ablehnen. [2] Sänger Alan Sparhawk zufolge stammt diese Bezeichnung von einem Freund der Band, war jedoch eher als Witz gemeint [3] , als er es einmal in einem Interview fallen ließ, was zur Etablierung des Begriffs beitrug [4] . Die Gründungsmitglieder Sparhawk (Gitarre, Gesang) und Mimi Parker (Schlagzeug, Gesang) spielen derzeit mit dem Bassisten Steve Garrington in bewährter Trio-Formation. Parker und Sparhawk sind verheiratet, haben zwei Kinder und sind Mormonen .
Joe Strummer’s London Calling
In den Jahren vor seinem Tod hatte Joe Strummer eine regelmäßige Radioshow bei der BBC. Die Sendung mit dem treffenden Namen “London Calling” steht via iTunes als kostenloser Podcast zur Verfügung, dort sind die Shows jedoch von ergänzenden Kommentaren umgeben. Der großartige Tim vom Radio Clash Podcast und Blog hat nun die 14 BBC-Dateien und einige der im offiziellen Podcast nicht vorhandenen Episoden als Ogg- und MP3-Dateien so aufbereitet, dass man sie wie bei der Original-Ausstrahlung hören kann.

In den Genuss einer 75%-Reunion der einflussreichen Stoner Rock-Band kamen bislang nur schlaue Besucher des französischen Festivals Hellfest, die im Juni ob der Einzelbookings von Garcia, Oliveri und Bjork mit pochendem Herzen in die Bretagne reisten und dort ein Höllenfeuer erlebten.
