Making Sense of Pain: Program sites | Pain BC. About the class series Making Sense of Pain is a self-management class series designed for people with pain who also live in marginalized conditions and face barriers to accessing care. The class series is held over a span of 8 weeks and is led by a trained facilitator. Facilitators provide participants with opportunities to learn about pain, the various factors that can cause pain or make it worse, and simple strategies that can help participants better manage pain in everyday life.

The Making Sense of Pain class series is available in two formats: Making Sense of Pain and Making Sense of Pain for Indigenous Peoples. The Making Sense of Pain for Indigenous Peoples class series is available for First Nations, Metis, and Inuit groups and is led by an Elder, with teaching and facilitation support provided by a peer. Action Atlantic - Action Atlantic. AQDC – L'Association de la douleur chronique. The chronic pain self-management program has changed my life for the better! The information provided in the workshop is also available in books, but participation in the workshop transforms a simple reading into a very enriching human experience.

The program encourages self-awareness and knowledge. I applied the proposed plans of action to my own life and the strength of the group (sharing, exchanging, listening) helped immensely. In my opinion, these are the program’s two strongest elements. Following the program helped me return to work a few months later. I have a standing monthly appointment with the AQDC support group in Trois-Rivières. Whether it’s the chronic pain self-management program or support groups, I happily recommend them all!
