Gary Hendershott ~ Online Catalog. Adolf Hitler Signed Nazi Photograph tipped into a Rare Book – Other Books Dedicated to Georg Gietz, a German Gymnast – Book and Letter from Baldur von Schirach, Leader of the Hitler Youth; He was Tried and Convicted of War Crimes at Nuremberg Georg Gietz, a famous German gymnast and worker with the Hitler Youth attended the 1933 German Gymnastics Festival at Stuttgart, Germany in 1933. Adolf Hitler delivered the keynote speech and while there signed Gietz’s copy of the competition’s periodical, Fest-Zeitung 15. Deutsches Turnfest Stuttgart 1933, (Competition Periodical 15th German Gymnastic Competition Stuttgart 1933) by signing the Heinrich Hoffmann photograph inside the book signed “Adolf Hitler - Stuttgart Juli 1933" in strong black ink. The book is by itself very rare, but to be owned by a premier German gymnast and signed by the Fuhrer himself makes this a one-of-a-kind rarity.

Assault Rifle of the Week. Kalashnikov’s designs faced stiff competition, and had to ultimately win out on merit alone against competing designs from established designers with chests full of Al Capp-style Russian Hero Ribbons awarded for past arms designs. Once the M43 cartridge was adopted for the SKS rifle (then 7.62×41, later 7.62×39), the search began for a selective fire, high capacity assault rifle. Many designs were submitted during many trials from 1943-1947. As they are essentially unknown in the West, we will briefly illustrate some of the designs submitted by otherwise-famous Russian arms designers, which ultimately lost out to the Kalashnikov.

After having decided on the M43 cartridge, but before there was an SKS rifle or an AK assault rifle, the Soviets built this M1944 Avtomat, based on a shortened Tokarev action, with 30-round magazine. The experimental Sudayev AS-44 was the first weapon submitted to fire the new 7.62x41mm cartridge. The British Chieftain tank. Main battle tank (1966-1995)United Kingdom - around 2280 built in all A difficult task, do better than the Centurion The Chieftain was a development on the legendary Centurion, which defined the standard of MBTs in the fifties, and dominated the battlefield in the Middle East during most of the cold war.

However the FV4201 built by Leyland Motors was a brand new main battle tank aimed at exceeding all expectations placed on the design. Its main rifled Royal Ordnance L11A5 120mm gun was specifically tailored and became the new standard in OTAN. Design The Chieftain originated from a British Leyland design for a new tank dating from as early as 1950, when the War office stated a replacement for the Centurion as the Medium Tank No 2. For at least twenty years the "magic triangle" speed-armour-armament was not achieved as well as for the Centurion. Main Characteristics The Mk.I was equipped with the Leyland L60, an ingenious two-stroke opposed piston design for multi-fuel use.
