The Neuroscience of Ghosts. Despite an exterior presence that exudes a certain amount of common sense and belief in the scientific process, more than just about anything, I desperately want to see a ghost.

The Neuroscience of Ghosts

I'm Scully in the streets, but Mulder in the sheets. I've dropped some serious coinage on tours of haunted places. I've examined “ghost photos” with a wide variety of photo-enhancement technology. I've snuck into decrepit, abandoned buildings, where spirits of the dead supposedly linger. A Reprieve From the Blue Period. 1.)

In Act 4 of Macbeth, the witches show the play’s tragic hero a vision: Eight kings march by in succession, the last bearing a mirror in which are reflected many more future monarchs—all of them the descendants, not of King and Queen Macbeth, but of Banquo, the former best friend Macbeth has just paid assassins to take out.

In undertaking his cinematic adaptation of Macbeth, starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard, the Australian filmmaker Justin Kurzel must have felt a similarly eerie sensation of infinite regress. However successful or unsuccessful Kurzel’s version may be on its own terms, by making it he inserts himself into a performance history stretching back more than 400 years and forward into the indefinite future—as long, one would hope, as there are enough humans or artificially intelligent singularities left to put on a show.

Lady Macbeth on Capitol Hill. Describing her role as the ambitious political wife Claire Underwood in the American TV series House of Cards, Robin Wright recognized she is “Lady Macbeth to [Francis] Underwood’s Macbeth.”

Lady Macbeth on Capitol Hill

At one point in the second series, Claire emboldens her wavering husband: “Trying’s not enough, Francis. I’ve done what I had to do. Now you do what you have to do.” It’s the equivalent, in the clipped dialogue of the genre, of Shakespeare’s most vehement and brutal image: Lady Macbeth offering to brain her suckling child “had I so sworn / As you have done to this” (1.7.55-9). The Underwoods rework Shakespeare’s ultimate power couple in a modern setting, but violent reactions in the American media to Claire’s characterization show that Lady Macbeth continues to challenge norms of femininity, 400 years after a young male actor first embodied her on the London stage. Five Fascinating Facts about Macbeth

Lady Macbeth’s real name was Gruoch and Macbeth’s real name was Mac Bethad mac Findlaích. Many people know the story of Macbeth: the ambitious Thane of Cawdor, egged on by his wife who taunts him with jibes about his (insufficient) manliness and encouraged by the prophecy imparted to him by three witches, kills the Scottish king, Duncan, while Duncan is asleep in Macbeth’s own castle. Macbeth takes the crown for himself, and tyrannically rules Scotland until Macduff defeats him, killing Macbeth and enabling Duncan’s son Malcolm to be crowned King. But the story as told by Shakespeare is somewhat different from the historical truth.

His tale is told from beginning to end and features appearances by the witches. The song matches the tone of the play as well: a deep, grimy, incessant beat that refuses to let up until Macbeth is finally dead. The chorus in the song is from the perspective of MacDuff’s soldiers marching up to Macbeth’s castle to kill him and take back the throne. Find out what happens in this Macbeth rap music video! Intro.
