TNA. Sporting Cities. Background information London Metropolitan Archives (LMA) is the largest local government archive repository in the United Kingdom, based in Clerkenwell in the London borough of Islington. LMA grew from the local government bodies responsible for administering the area now known as Greater London. In 1986 London lost this top-level administration and the 33 boroughs which make up Greater London became responsible for administering their own local area. Since this time LMA has been run by the City of London, one of the 33 local government bodies.
