Tool Time Tuesday...Electrical Switch Plate Organizing. Switch it up with switch plates that is!
Switch plates are the covers that you put on electrical outlets or light switches. They also come in "Blanks". They are the solid plates that you might use to cover the electrical boxes that aren't being used any more. Well, look at these in what else...galvanized metal. However, they do come in white, black, off white and so many other kinds from metals to plastics. and these were on sale too!!
Ok, can you hear my mind ticking away. This is a very old wooden box that came from my grandfather's woodworking shop. I placed the switch plate on the front of the box and centered it. Mark the screw holes for drilling. Don't you love all the dinks in the box...I never met my grandfather. Now it's time for my favorite tool! Drill the 2 holes from the pencil marks. Here are the 2 screws that come with the switch plate (flat tips). Pointy (technical term) wood screws. Now just screw the plate to the front of the box. and here you have it all finished.
Space ~Karen~ Make a Magnetic Organizer. It is beyond simple to create your own magnetic organizer to hold your craft supplies.
Start with a sheet of metal from the hardware store. Throw it in a cheap picture frame. Add the awesome power of magnets!!! The result is a sleek and efficient storage system. This project is really that easy. Materials 16″x20″ galvanized sheet metal 16″x20″ picture frame Craft foam Various magnets Metal containers Magnetic jaw clips Directions Step 1: Open the back of the picture frame and remove the fake portrait of the cheesy couple, the mat, and the glass. Step 2: Place a sheet of craft foam in the center of the metal sheet. Step 3: Replace the back of the frame. Step 4: Add containers and fill them with your supplies. Related. Laura Thoughts: Make-up Magnet Board. We all know with craft blogs that original ideas are often hard to come by, we find ideas we love and make them our own but we didn't come up with the idea ourselves.
I feel like I've finally done something original here and I'm excited about it. I'll show you the finished product and then explain. Behold my Make-up Magnet Board. I have a friend who is beautiful and stylish and has always loved make-up but recently took a course that intensified her love. Her renewed interest has worn off on me and it made me remember eye shadows I'd hidden away that were gathering dust.
The basket was a mess and I was overwhelmed with all my choices never knowing what to use, digging through to see what I had and find what I wanted was a pain. I painted it (The hard way, with a brush instead of spray paint. I went to the hardware store and picked up some metal and had them cut it to fit inside my frame. Here comes the brilliant part though. Next I wanted a place to store my brushes and liners though.
