Author of some 500 short stories, novels, plays and poems, his most famous works include “Fahrenheit 451”, “The Martian Chronicles”, and “Dandelion Wine”. I really would like to even write a book on my life growing up. It's a story that has everything and it'strue!! But my present writing is either in my journal or I do freestyle writing. So how does one prepare to write a short story? Short stories have a simple structure: put a character into some sort of a situation, make it difficult, then get him out of it (through his own efforts). There should, of course, be something to be learned through this process: good will always win out over evil; tell the truth always, etc. I suggest you read some short story collections and check them against this structure.
